Question

I'm thinking about converting my 368 into some sort of hybrid TT bike. We have local-ish TT races in the summer, and entry is free. So why not 

Any thoughts about the cockpits? Clip-on aero bars? Riser kit? Not sure what would be most effective and practical.

If you want to keep a normal stem+drop bars and use clip on aero bars you could get one that clips onto the stem although I don't know if those work with just any stem. In any case reach wise you normally want your elbows on the pads and if you clip aero bars onto the handlebars I'm fairly certain the pads will be too far forward unless you use a much shorter stem.
You could replace the current cockpit and get something like the winow base bar + aero bar combo. I think it works with any normal stem although they have some specific stems for that as well. It's fairly expensive but has good adjustability as far as I can tell.

A small update on my quest for shaving some weight off the bike.

I got a UDH direct mount hanger and also mounted a set of Sugino Capacity Booster pulley wheels I had already. Angling the UDH hanger quite far back I could get the top pulley quite close to the cassette without the RD hitting the chain stay when in the 11T cog. This meant that the ZTTO SLR Gen 3 11-32 cassette actually seems to work fine now. I'll probably get the all steel version in 11-30 for a bit more durability, but it should still be maybe ~120g of weight saving compared to the Ultegra 11-30 cassette.

Hi, I am building it up right now… but I have one problem or I need a solution: the leese 1by spindle seems very long, the one by chainring up front is really far away from the chainstay and when I am in the biggest cog, the chain is really bending inwards and there is not a nice chain line… sadly the powermeter spider (Xcadey) won’t fit if I use less spacers… anyone an idea? Hey guys, does anyone have a photo of the saddle clamp assembly they could share please? I was trying to loosen mine to get the saddle further forward on the rails and over did it, the whole thing came off and fell on the floor. It's now a 6 piece jigsaw puzzle and I can't work out how it should go back together. Thanks!

BTW I have the bike built and have been out for a ride - TL;DR it's great. Will write up more soon.

76 degrees as far as I could work out


Playing around with tool &tube storage options.
The TT style box from AliX for under a tenner seems best option but you have to mod/file/add new fixing strap.
It's only a V1 attempt

Stand down, I worked it out. Managed to grab a still from Patrick's video which showed enough detail. I'm not sure how long the little rubber piece will stay on or what it's for, but the saddle is rammed forward as far as looks safe, and is rock solid.

Speaking of the clamp. I think this may be what is at the heart of the slipping seatpost issues.


On a few instances I've observed that the clamp is compressed and almost stuck together, requiring lots of torque to loosen, yet it's completely free in the frame and not applying pressure to the seat post to the point where it can move up and down freely. So the extra torque I've been applying to hold the seatpost in place seems to mainly be absorbed by the clamp and isn't getting to the point where it's pressing against the post and frame yet. I believe there is a new seatpost and wedge design in the works as well.

Hi, I’ve just finished assembling the bike. I still haven’t ridden it yet. It looks great, and it’s fairly heavy, even though I managed to shave off some weight, for example with lighter bar tape, a lighter saddle, and a Dura-Ace cassette.

Unfortunately it’s a little short in reach. The saddle setback is the same as on my previous bike, but I’m still about 1 cm shorter in overall length. That’s actually acceptable, since the previous bike was slightly too long anyway.

The bike is built 100% for racing. It’s equipped with an Ultegra drivetrain with 54/11 gearing, a Dura-Ace cassette, and Kogel oversized pulley wheels. Tires are Vittoria Corsa Pro Speed TLR. Wheel setup is 60 mm front and 65 mm rear, with a 26 mm front tire and a 28 mm rear tire
