@patliean1 do you have any comments on the VB provided stem? i've seen you opted for an integrated bar in the end...does it still slip? For my build i would like to maintain a separate bar and stem and the in-house solution would be the simplest

This bike is not designed around the position that the Dare, Ridley, and Factor allow. This bike is best described as lower for the same reach as most bikes at the larger sizes, while very contemporary to a typical race bike at the smaller sizes. This is not an opinion and is based on the geometry charts.

While this bike offers a lot of fore-and-aft adjustment for the saddle, it's not long or low enough to compare with the Dare, Ridley, or new Factor. The Dare is a half measure IMO because of the STA, but the Ridley and the Factor embrace the new school, forward positioning, and are 15-25mm longer reach than the 368 while being 10mm lower in comparable sizes. Crucially, those bikes also have similarly longer wheel bases.

For smaller sizes the VB368 is pretty classical geometry, but for larger sizes while not as aggressive as Dare and Ridley, it's definitely more aggressive than something more standard/old school like the Foil - geometry comparison attached. For similar stack figure, the VB is more or less right in between Foil and Dare/Ridley regarding reach - the Ridley is 21mm longer and Dare 12mm longer (but *not* also 10mm lower stack). For wheel base and seat tube angle (even not taking the sliding saddle clamp into account) it's actually closer to Ridley than to the Foil.

My comment specific to the large sizes was comparing this bike to most race type bikes, not the Ridley or Factor. I think the general description of the geometry of those bikes being lower than the 368 is also fair because it holds true "generally" for most of the geometry chart, but I guess you can take that point if keeping score is your intention.  ::)

The key thing in that comparison is whether you consider the 550 of this bike as best described as less stack than something like the 58 sl8 or longer reach than the 56 sl8. Given the context of the other sizes (the 490 of this bike lining up with the 52 sl8) I feel like the description as shorter than the 58 is more apt. You can expand this to include the other typical race bikes people describe.

If you like the 368, that's cool; but it's not at all accurate to lump it with the likes of the Ridley which very much force riders into an untraditional racing position that offers significant advantages but also negative handling trade-offs unless the bike is designed for it. The much longer reach of the Ridley is part of that design focus. This doesn't mean you can't use this bike to replicate that position in the larger sizes, but the overall geo isnt going to be balanced in the same way.

Anyone having issues with their post slipping? I'm a smaller rider so I had to cut my seatpost a large amount. I had to cut off the bit of the seatpost that had the anti slip coating on it.

I haven't even ridden the bike yet and the post still slips just sitting on it... When I torque down the bolt as far as I can, the bolt bottoms out/slides against the clamping bit, and even then the post still has some side-to-side wobble like it's undersized.

I put a bit of electrical tape around the post and now I can at least sit on the bike without it slipping. I assume the post is a little bit undersized after I cut the bit off with the anti slip coating? Anyone know what the factories apply to the post that I can do at home?

Did you use carbon gripping paste?

For people that want to use a normal bar+stem with the frame, i asked chris and he sent me this photo of the corresponding top cover.

I also asked him if he had pictures of the green clearcoat frame on the custom color section of the website but they already shipped it...anybody here ordered that frame?

A little update on my seatpost situation. I took rather extreme measures and epoxied some silicon carbide particles to the seatpost. I ended up applying 3 thin layers of epoxy to take up some slack in the seat tube before applying the particles. I'm confident this + some carbon paste will prevent any slippage 😂.
