LTwoo eRX new rear derailleur
« on: July 29, 2025, 09:41:59 AM »
Hi,

so I bought a LTwoo eRX v3 Groupset from AliExpress last week (Designer Store 80)

And today I got sent Pictures of the Groupset that will be sent to me (Its already on its way)

From what I can tell everything looks like the v3 Version that can be seen on pictures on Ali or Trace Velos Video about it.

But on closer inspection I saw that the rear derailleur has a new power plug and no connection button anymore?

I attached a picture of the AliExpress Product Photo and the Photo I got sent by the seller

Does anyone know more? Or can explain whats new or different?

There's a good chance LTwoo changed out the battery cables on the newer LTwoo derailleurs. I wouldn't be surprised by ver. 4 they go full wireless to match their upcoming ETT MTB groupset. LTwoo officially states it doesn't do direct-to-customer, only direct-to-business. So any changes are for the convenience of OEMs selling LTwoo equipped bikes.

Hm, yes could be

I also contacted the shop, maybe they know more, lets see, if I get any update I'll let you know :)

Are there currently any Bikebrands that sell LTwoo directly mounted on a bike?

If you will get answer please tell, I'm curious what they told you. 80 Designer Store are not very good to answer the question. I  ask them few times about LTWOO and they don't answer me. So I really rate their customer contact very low.

Just wait when you have first warranty claim, then their response time will be almost non existing.

I also realised that they don't really answer any questions what so ever...

regarding warranty I'd try my luck with LTwoo directly tbh

Regarding the "new" Plug of the rear derailleur, I also found a Ali Listing with ER9 Group Photos and there is a different version of plug as well, but its at least close to what I think will be getting

So maybe the adopted this layout for the eRX? Because I can't get the ER9, I checked the colors and the one I got sent is blue-ish

I also found this listing of the eRX and ER9 TT Groupset and there also the Pulley Wheel of the ERX looks new and different

Its from an "LTwoo Official" Store, but the only thing they said was "We dont sell Rear Derailleur seperate" and "Go to the LTwoo Website to get more information"

None of the Ltwoo sellers on Ali are “official”. All of them are just resellers. I’ve purchased two group sets from 80 designer store.  They have been very helpful. Even replaced a bad rear mech on my gravel group set.

What problem are you having with your group set?

Concerns are that the photos the seller sent me don't show the LED and reset button on the rear derailleur, as seen in TraceVelo videos. The seller told me that the LTWOO is still being developed and a waterproof cover has been added. Another seller in the chat message said that the LED and button are located in the locations I marked in the photo.

LTwoo has done a few odd things to their groupset to skirt around patents from the likes of Shimano and SRAM. For example the use of adapter plates for flat mount brakes. Also certain aspects like indicator lights might have been moved internally, perhaps inside the battery plug compartment. The shift button lights on LTwoo shifters have the lights embedded.

I've mentioned it here before, even domestic Chinese cycling consumers are quite finicky and many have the same concerns about reliability when it comes to LTwoo. I've read numerous times on Chinese social media (using real-time translation), cyclists just recommending to go with 105/Ultegra Di2, based on price (Di2 is cheaper in China) parts availability and better customer support.

Since they have a MTB RD with a detachable USB C battery, could they not also make one on the FD and go full wireless? What patent is preventing them? This would solve so many compatibilities

That would be a good thing. Those cables are the worst thing about the groupset. A nightmare to pull through a lot of frames.
