Any idea how to remove logo from stem
« on: September 01, 2025, 05:00:35 AM »
I purchase this stem https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007557399904.html but the big "Kocevlo" on the sides is pretty minging.
Any suggestions on ways to go about removing this? It's not a sticker, rather something slightly more permanent but I don't know what exactly

Spray painting the whole thing is a last resort
thanks

I would try it with a magic eraser sponge and acetone.

From the pictures it could even be just laser etched (no luck then, black marker might help). Anything else and, as stated before, acetone should be your best bet.

Rub with acetone and soft towel

Start with a q-tip with acetone, then test how "strong" is the tampography

I always de-badge my stem/handlebar...

Electrical tape. Nobody will ever notice, or care. Or black vinyl if you're extra.
I'm trying to reduce weight, not add it  ;D

Right, tried my wifes' nail varnish remover and a cottonbud/qtip no joy. can feel the printed section 'grabbing' the cotton bud as i'm rubbing, so unfortunately it seems like it might even be etched. Will try some more abrasive household cleaner stuff later in the day but might be that my only option is to spraypaint it.

That is a 250g stem that cost $20! And you are worried about removing the letters to save weight?

Spend $40 and get yourself a 100g stem with no lettering.

Not to troll, but did you make sure it's acetone based? These days, many aren't

There is some very cheap aliexpress matt black sticker which I'm using sometimes for stuff like that

I tried acetone and other solvents.. none of them worked on my Kocevlo stem. Replaced with another "stealth" one still from Aliexpress

Nail polish remover ( not the acetone free version) and elbow grease.

If you have a little dremel with a polishing bit and some acetone usually does the trick. Potentially an electric toothbrush might work? Sometimes takes a lot of rubbing - and sometimes some extra abrasive stuff. YMMV.

Thanks, have a dremel, can give it a go. worst case some black paint or a sharpie will hide the worst of it until i get a nicer replacement.
