WheelTop EDS TX Rear derailleur failure

I’ve read through a lot of posts from people having shifting problems, but I don’t see anything quite like what I have. I would welcome any advice from this group.

I have had the EDS TX group set for about 14 months with very little trouble until this past weekend. I was about 50km into a 60km ride when the RD (RA6000) stopped shifting, while the FD worked fine. I was in a middle gear on the 12-speed cassette, so I was able to push on and make it back home using only two speeds.

I assumed it was the shifter, so I replaced the shifter batteries. It seemed to fix the problem, but only for a few shifts. The shifting stopped again the next day before I made to the end of my street. Back at home, I tried changing gears using the app and that didn’t work either. After reading about how some others had fixed their issues, I decided to do a full calibration reset. This is where things get strange.

I was able to use the initial calibration adjustment to slowly work the RD back to its lowest position but only 2-4 increments at a time. It would move as expected, and them completely stop responding. I was only able to get it to respond again by rotating the pulley cage a few times. It would move another few increments before stopping and needing me to repeat the process.

Once back in the initial position, I was able to shift up – but similarly only a few shifts before it stopped and need me to rotate the pulley cage. It responds the same way to both the shifter and the app, so the problem seems to be in the RD.

I have also noticed that shifts up and down act differently when they are working. Shifts up seem to be perfectly normal (until it stops) but shifts down don’t seem to move a full gear. It often takes more than one movement to come down a full gear.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix, or is my only option to replace the RD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
