Hubs with "inserted" carbon spokes

I have a set of these. Was aware of the theoretical risk when buying. The most recent Nero youtube had a piece on a Magene wheel with this style hub that completely collapsed after a spoke fracture (pedal strike during a crit, apparently). Got me thinking. Why not apply some sort of a cap over the inserted spokes to keep the wheel from completely collapsing if a spoke breaks and causes a tension loss. I'm tempted to put epoxy over the slots lacking that. It would make repair a bear, but that might be a fair tradeoff for going over the bars.
My personal risk is on the low side-I avoid most group rides and don't race.

Thoughts? Should manufacturer's come up with a retention solution? Should we diy? Is concern overblown?

They're problematic due to lack of redundancy. Not worth it to go side entry over a straight pull hub with a mechanical lock as a backup in case the spokes detension. Side entry hubs aren't that uncommon, but they are often also made with a cap to lock the spokes in. That adds weight and complexity, so some skip it

These failures are rare, but when they do happen it's catastrophic. Properly designed hub do normally have a retention cap of some kind. I think the best way to serure a hub like this by yourself would be with a custom 3d printed cap. If that's not an option you could cut some tape to fir over the flanges, or something else that's pliable enough and attach it some way. Depending on your specific flange, glue, zip ties, screws, etc. could work

I think Peter stopped selling such hubs over the summer. I suspect that enough accidents have happened and that hub makers came up with something better at a similar enough price point.

I didn't realize Peter changed their design. These are "his" wheels purchased late spring. Might be an upgrade excuse.
