First bike build - Need opinions
« on: October 11, 2025, 04:02:38 PM »
Hey all,

Planning on doing my first bike build in the following month after riding a gravel frame on the road for the past year. Mainly looking to do road and as I'm not the fittest I'm looking at endurance frame

Here's the current part list

Frame: Light Carbon LCR018-D in 52
Wheels: Tangoola Aeroraptor ultra-light 50 front 60 back (already ordered)
Groupset: L-TWOO ER9  + Oversize pulley wheel (for longer cage)
Crankset: Senix PR3 50-34 165mm
Cassette: ZTTO Ultralight 12speed 11-36
BB: ZTTO T47 24L
Disc Rotors: IIIPros 160mm
Chain: Shimano M-8100
Tires: Pirelli P-Zero 30mm with ridenow tpu tubes

What do you think of it ? Is everything compatible ? Would you make any changes ?

Budget is around 2.5k euros but the closer it is to 2k (currently around 2.2k), the happier I am

It is worth considering 105 Di2 given that there's not a lot of price difference between ER9 and 105 now (maybe 150 EUR or so if buying grey market from AliExpress).

Also consider whether you want a power meter or not. For me, a power meter on a road bike is a non-negotiable, but it depends on whether that data is important to you or not. Crank spider versions are the cheapest, but what's available will depend on your crank choice now.

For the crank, you might as well go DUB rather than 24mm, slightly lighter with no compromises given you're on T47.

And lastly, consider tubeless! Setup on my Tagoola Aeroraptor wheels was very easy with a Pirelli P-Zero RS tyre - seals no trouble with a floor pump. Your Tagoola wheels come pre-taped and tubeless valves are in the box.

Some solid component choices there!

For the cassette, I'd consider one of the all-steel cassettes for improved durability. E.g., this one (variant "newULT 12S 36T Black"): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007624681972.html

And there are reports that non-Shimano chains - e.g., KMC X12 - work better with aftermarket cassettes - though I have no personal experience with this.

The Senicx crankset are solid, and probably the cheapest way to get 165mm crank arms these days. Though as raisinberry777 suggests, you can pick the PR2 DUB model, which saves some weight: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005817410741.html

Regarding the tyres, I think the rank goes Pirelli P-Zero Road -> Race -> Race RS. With decreasing rolling resistance and increasing price. In my market, GP 5000 tube-type clinchers are quite a bit cheaper than Pirelli, so I opt for the Continentals instead. But I'm sure they're both excellent tyres.

Already have power pedals so I'll just transfer those from my current bike !

For 105, the cheapest one I can find on ali is 680€ with only the electronic parts (fd, rd, levers, battery, calipers) and the er9 is 450 for the same thing so I think I'll just keep the er9 !

That's good to know, might go for that. Which sealant do you use ?

Nice hadn't seen that cassette. Still pretty light and cheaper than the one I chose !

Just to be sure if I switch to DUB, I need a BB with 29mm spindle hole like the T47-29I for ZTTO ?

11/11 sales are pretty close, you may want to wait, you could probably save 150€ on the 700-800 you still have to spend

Oh nice, the power pedals makes that all a bit easier then. To use the DUB PR2 crank you'll also need the DUB bottom bracket for T47i - I saw in your other post you'd picked up on that.

I use Orange Seal Endurance - has worked fine for me and seems to be generally pretty well regarded. Not really any budget options so I'd just go for whatever is locally available. Stan's, Silca, Joe's No Flats are all decent alternatives if the Orange Seal isn't available.

105 with a chain and cassette should be a little cheaper than that at this link here?

Again up to you whether it's worth the extra though.

Yes, that's the one.
