13 speed cassette search
« on: November 19, 2025, 04:53:51 AM »
I'm looking to switch my current 46T 11-50 setup to a 42T with either 10-46 or 9-46. It needs to be 13 speed because of the range. Struggling to dig a suitable cassette up, are there any recommendations?

The only options I'm aware of are Campy Ekar GT 10-48 or 10-44 depending on your preferences. As far as I know, all AliX 13 speed cassettes are all for HG hubs with 11-X.
Or Rotor 10-46 I guess. Not cheap options.

Seems like a lot of work and money to end up with the exact same range. Or just get a 12 speed.

Ztto are offering 13 speed: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010151827851.html?

I considered going 13 on my new road bike build (planning Wheeltop EDS programmable for 13 or even 14). But choice of chain is not clear, and Ztto did not respond when I asked them.

So I'll likely go 12 speed this time, with potential to upgrade down the line  ;)

There are essentially two main designs on AliX for 13 speed cassettes. The ones you link to there are the heavier ones, and then the lighter ones like these ones https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009484253423.html? . I have the heavy version in 11-50 and the light version in 11-45. The 11-45 shifts really well with a standard KMC 12 speed chain. I've never managed to get the shifting to be great on the 11-50 but it might very well be my setup/patience rather than the cassette. Either way, no reason not to get the lighter version IMO, they also look better.

Are there any 13 speed versions being manufactured for Micro Spline?

My issue with the 11-X is that it requires me to run a 46T chainring and the chainline is rough in the large cogs.

I guess the alternative option is to switch to SRAM but that's not cheap.
