Recently finished building my "tribute/ homage" to Sam Laidlow's 2024 Kona bike, and was surprisingly a pain free process. Started the process with Velobuild in early November, and received the frame in the first week of December. Had a "custom" set of rims made by BikeDoc at the same time, and received them about a week after the frame.
The build was painless, everything was significantly easier than building my QR X-PR, possibly because I now had some experience.
As for the Parts:
Frame: VB-TT-023 (L)
Wheels: "Custom" BikeDoc 180mm rear, 88mm front.
Groupset: L-TWOO ERX-TT (currently being upgraded to Dura Ace)
Cassette: ZTTO Ultralight 11-32
BB: Bikesmart Token threaded internal (24mm)
Chain: KMC x12 TI-N
Saddle: Prologo Dimension Tri
BTA/ Computer Mount: Tririg riser and adapter plate, cheap amazon bottle bracket and Garmin bracket.
Total Cost: Roughly $3200 USD
Bike is better in every way compared to my QR, minus about 1lb of weight (mostly due to the wheels)
I did have issues with my stem, Chris from VB said the front screws are too long, currently waiting on a replacement aluminum stem and bolts. Debating replacing with a mono stem/ base bars.
