EU to impose 3 EUR tax on Chinese goods under 150 EUR

is there a nasty surprise after checkout, or has aliexpress already annihilated that tax?
looking at super cheap items that were typically 2-3€ that jumped to 7-8€ after the tax, are now back to old prices for the most part

There's a nasty surprise at checkout, isn't there? For me, a 6-item cart of about 18€ (12€ with coins, probably 10€ with a discount code) gets hit with an estimated ~21€ in customs, so right now, AliExpress seems dead for stuff like that.
They've also done away with the "you'll be reimbursed if it's actually less than that", so either their calculations are better or they're happily pocketing the change if the package isn't pulled/taxed lower.

I’ve recently did an order, and I was not hit with the Estimated duties shit (weird). I’ve tried it again now, and now I am being hit by Estimated duties like crazy. Not sure what happened there, but I for sure hate this.

I just placed an order (geoid PM with cranks for 100€    ) and it seems the taxes aren't calculated in your cart but at checkout instead. I had a 6€ item shipped from china that I removed because it wasn't worth it anymore with the tax. Everything shipped from europe was all good though, i only got the tax on chainrings

This is how it works for purchases in Australia as well. Tax is calculated at checkout, not before - you get used to it, just something to keep in mind. At least our tax is a %, not a flat fee, so cheaper items aren't as impacted.

Is there a website with any kind of loophole for this yet?
di2 pry tool on amazon is 11€, 1.50€ on ali but 7€ after taxes... not an acceptable situation in the slightest.
I'd shoplift from amazon if I could at this point, I'm probably going to abuse the shit out of their return system for backstabbing us, but what about more permanent items?
