L, 75cm.

Hi, if it’s not too much trouble, could I ask you to take a few measurements (see attached image)?

I’m trying to figure out how much seatpost exposure I’d have with the VRT in size L, and what the visual result would be.

You mentioned a saddle height of 750mm, and judging by this photo, it looks pretty good (even though the frame has minimal sloping)... though I assume the saddle is thin (40–45mm), which could affect the final look.

Do the wheels in the photo have a 58mm profile?

Thanks.

65mm wheels. Can take some measurements when I’m back home in the week of 21th. Ping me if I forget.

I wonder if there are any people that have received the first frames already and could share their first impressions about the ride feel/ quality of the frame?

Hello, are there any updates regarding:
  • UCI approval?
  • brand name on frame? Will it stay as xmcs or will it change once more?
  • possible changes to the frame due to feedback from patty? (as he mentioned in one of his videos)

As for tire clearance, the P Zero SL R now mounted, measure 31.5mm and we seem to have about 8mm+ clearance at the rear. So 38mm WAM may fit - TBC after Eurobike. I think it will look a lot better, as it will close the gap to the DT a bit.

Is there an update around this? 31.5+8+8 = 47.5 = 39.5+4+4. That's the rear. That means that you can (just) run a GP5000 in 35C. Can we please get a formal confirmation of that?
And at the fork, is it safe to assume that we can also fit 40mm WAM?

Method: i found that caliper for inflated tyre + allen key of 3-4-5mm between tyre and chainstay is the easiest way to measure stuff with enough precision. (my LTK 268 measures 34.4mm + 4mm on either side, at the back. Plenty of space at the front. So with enough optimism it could pass as a 35C frame (as in 35mm, strictly just 35mm)).

Last: front derailleuyr clearance question. I dont do 1x.

Thanks. On Patrick's video, it's 34.5+6+6 is 38.5+4+4. Consistent with previous measurement that concluded 39.5+4+4.
Could be an argument in favour of carbon spokes, as they're supposed to make stiffer wheels less likely to rub under load if one's pushing the max clearance. Wheels that measure almost 40mm wide might give enough comfort to run carbon spokes for most people, idk.

The new Conti GP5K 35mm measures 37mm on the XMCS 26/34. I’ve got it on my Quick Pro with a DA front mech and there is passable clearance. I’ve put down 400km on this setup with no issues.

The VRT will be the same, if not with even more clearance.

The P Zero SLR 28c measure 31.7mm on the 26-33 rims. An allen key of 8mm just fits between chain stay and tire. 8.5mm does not fit without rubbing. So 8mm it is with a +-32mm WAM tires.

Recaculating this:

35mm WAM => 6.5mm clearance
38mm WAM => 5.0mm clearance
40mm WAM => 4.0mm clearance.
42mm WAM => 3.0mm clearance
44mm WAM => 2.0mm clearance

A 40c tire (e.g Caracal Race) will blow up to 42-44 WAM on a 26i rim. That will not be a good idea. A 35c, WAM 38 will work OK imo.

Derailler space for 2x can’t replicate yet (can next month as we have a 2x GT customer build coming in. I did measure the space between the derailler mounting holes and the tire: about 3cm. Feels to me like there will be room for 2x with 38WAM.

Good info.
I would note, that for bigger tyres it will probably be a bit less room as written, as larger tyres are not only wider, but also bigger/deeper, so that outer end of tyre of a bit closer to the BB and probably chainstay goes inwards a bit.

Looking forward to the Aero testing you teased on instagram! How will you be publishing the results?

The VRT Cda was 0.281 in a normal slightly arms bend hoods position that I can hold all day and 0.239 in full aero position. GRT was 0.301 with same wheels and tires.

I don’t intend to publicize anything yet until I have done much more tests in different conditions and in different configurations.

Anyone is welcome to come over, take the bikes for a day and do testing himself. It’s pretty laborious.

Thanks.

@Requiem84 a reminder for you.  ;)

Thank you.

Measured it in detail for you:

BB -> Saddle 74.0
Top tube saddle:20.5
Floor to saddle: 99.8
Floor to tops: 92.0
Saddle height drop to tops: 9.0
Hoods/shifters are level, so same as above.
