When you're mentioning using spacers, are they additional spacers than the one Sram uses when running their Wide Xplr crankset (2.5mm on left side and 5.5mm on the right side for T47 85.5 BB)? I'm planning on running the recommended setup from Sram with these spacers to have the wider 47.5mm chainline which I assume will enable me to run at least 48T in the front (I'll have the updated frame).

Just ordered a GRT frame in XS, raw carbon glossy. The plan is to build it with XT rear derailleur and Ultegra shifters, but I have not yet decided on crankset. Does anybody have any recomendations? I have previously built two gravelbikes with a Ultegra crankset made into 1x.
Will post pictures of the frame when I get it

In your case - with the updated frame - you can stick to the standard dub wide crank + recommended spacers if you use a standard 6.5mm offset chain ring.

Then your chainline should be around 47.5mm and it should (easily) fit on the updated frame.

For the older frame people will need to add some additional spacers if they want to run 48T.
