what would be the mould recommended for a 2by - 48/31T? The new or the old one?

The new 48T option supports GRX 50/34T, while 46T only supports GRX 48/31T. The 48T version is also compatible with 46T.

GRT in beach race config.

63.3WAM tires, 4mm clearance at the chain stays.

7.9kg excl pedals (and without storage door I see 😉).

Man if the reach were a touch longer it would be the perfect bike. But it's way too short unfortunately. Any other options with similar geo (but longer) and 2x compatibility?

The reach is already quite long when looking at other western bike such as Specialized Crux at 395 (size M) vs a size 54 Crux (388)...It's not as long as some other gravel bike but it's not on the short side either. Finding 2x modern gravel race bike with good tire clearance is pretty much impossible these day.

If you'd plot the GRT against all competition it'd be a bit on the longer end.

For us we felt this was a sweet spot, where the frame works for people with a normal fit and also quite well for people who want to go a bit longer.

We didn't design the first XMCS aero gravel bike to be an extreme package, as it would alienate the 'customer in the middle'.

Like always, there isn't a single frame that works for everyone.

Having said that, the Belgium pro rider that will use the black GRT for beach racing 'only' needed a 120mm stem. Indicating to me that we got it in the ball park for more serious racers too.
