carbon crankset, chainrings and cassette
« on: April 04, 2026, 05:10:19 AM »
Hi. I'm planning 105 di2 shifters , disc brakes and front/rear derailleurs. Id like to lower weight by using carbon crankset, chainrings and cassette.

Could you recommend a Chinesse options with some longer term reviews. I was thinking leese crankset but does that require an adapter for chainrings then ? And possibly a ztto cassette. But again concerned about material choice here . Aluminium v steel etc. and then I need to consider chain line but I know nothing about this.

Any advice welcome thank you

I use leese crankset with direct mount chainings which is the lightest option and does not require a spider and a ztto ultimate full steel cassette. Extremely happy with the setup

I am planning to go for a Leese crankset with the same chainrings as you together with an ER9 groupset on my new build. However there is basically no review of th Leese chainrings out there. I would appreciate a lot, if you could elaborate a bit how happy you are with this combination, especially the shift quality. Which chain are you using btw?

I would do Magene TEO with power meter and chainring for 420-450$ and goldix all steel lightweight cassette

I've been running a Magene TEO with power meter for about 8 months now. Shifting is crisp with Shimano chainrings, and the power data is consistent, you can even get only the crankset https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3wVREi5

I'm using Zen Carbon Wheels crank arms, shimano ultegra chainrings (that I have) and goldix cassete all steel (but super light).

Does it make much noise with that combination? Any clicking?
Thanks for the info.

I've been looking at the ZRACE UNCHAINED PRO Power Meter Crankset which Trace Velo featured recently - seems unbeatable on the price, but currently all out of stock on aliexpress

I‘m currently running the ZRACE Unchained Crank and its golden, so i would assume the pro version should be even nicer (and even lighter)
