BXT 055

Came across this new gravel frame from BXT which looks quite nice. 50mm clearance is a bit tight by todays standards. Good selection of sizes including sizes for the big boys. Looks a bit like tavelo grow/cannondale superx but with "aeroscoop"
A few concerning bits: rack mount on the "aeroscoop" joint on the seatstays. I believe mondince had problem with mounts in this spot so they moved away from them. And that weird front derailleur mount situation.

Unfortunately, the link you posted doesn't work for me (maybe due to regional/country restrictions? ), so I tried searching for it myself. I came across this model https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005012051548549.html, but I don't see 'BXT 055' explicitly mentioned anywhere in the description. Judging by the photos of the 'aeroscoop' area and the stays, it looks like the same frame.

Regarding the 50mm clearance, I agree it might be a bit limiting by today's standards, but for the way I ride gravel, it's more than enough for my needs.

what is wrong with it? Is it too high? I checked some of the most popular mainstream gravel bikes and they are all within a couple of mm. Superx has even taller bb with a 67mm drop

A 69mm BB drop is outdated for modern gravel setups. If you run 45mm tires or larger, the effective BB height shifts significantly due to the much larger tire radius. Running high-volume tires on a frame with only a 67-69mm drop jacks the entire bike up so high that the center of gravity becomes unstable.

For tires 45mm and up, a 75mm to 80mm BB drop (depending on frame size and rider height) is necessary just to compensate for the added tire height. It’s simple physics: bigger tires require a deeper drop to maintain a stable axle-to-ground geometry and keep the bike planted.

I'm not defending this geo and I'm no expert in predicting the ride feel based on the geo chart but this BXT geometry is almost 1 to 1 copy of a cannondale superx that was released just last year and from what I remember it was received quite well. I didn't try the superx but my friend owns one and he is really happy with it. Maybe superx rides like shit and he just doesn't know any better, who knows.

Okay this make sense, thanks. Still I would like to try a higher BB to see if I can feel any difference.
To be honest I didn't even know what the BB drop in my current bike is (apparently 76)

AFAIR Cannondale SuperX was their cyclo-cross model before they named it a gravel bike, and cyclo-cross bikes always have little BB drop to have more clearance for obstacles.

I currently have a bike with 75mm bb drop and my previous lightcarbon lcg071 had 70. I rode both bikes with 50mm tires and both biggest frame sizes which puts the center of gravity even higher. I would not call lightcarbon unridable or unstable by any stretch of the imagination. Great bike. Had it for over 2 years. I actually prefer it over my current bike.

Bought it built it. I have purchased both the 135 and the 055 now. Both frames are good. The 055 is slightly stiffer and the headset is cleaner. It comes with a bottom bracket installed. The extra wheel clearance is nice. If I could order again I would ack for no mounting screws on the fork. I did request no BXT logo on the down tube, but I like the look of all the other logos. how much chainring room is there? Would a 46t fit?
