Came across this video on the 8Lien Aether wheels and the lateral flex shown and mention of rub near the brake disk is something I thought I would ask if this is normal/common place when pushing for these low weights in wheels now.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DW8beI_jdiP/Seems everyone is pushing wheels around 1kg and I guess hub used with spoke angles or flange distance, types of spoke and rim used sacrifice lateral stiffness. And everyone seems to copy each other so a Hworks HX Hub wheel then gets copied by a OEM builder at less cost, or a similar hub made or copied to replicate that when they can no longer source the H Works hub. Doesn’t mean that was the best design in the first place, but as a result the lightweight standard seems to be introduced via sheer numbers of similar products.
When looking at wheels are there any hub, rim or spoke options that are better and should be the minimum when choosing a wheel? Then at least you know what you are sacrificing when you deviate from this.
Was hoping for input from those like Toxin who come across as pretty knowledgeable in all things wheels.
