I feel the same, also it seems like the LC 18 frame comes with some issues which might be ok for the price but now it is a hard sell.

And at 2000$+, i’d rather hunt bargain opportunities at year end sales with Scott, look and others that will have much greater resale value

Very valid point when you take into account resale value on western brand frames vs direct to consumer Chinese frames. The well known brands like tavelo, quick pro, winspace etc might fair a little better but other brands are going to have little resale value.

That depends on how frequently you plan to change the bike. Moreover, Scott Foil for instance is out of the question because of limited tire clearance.
There are some Madone frameset for sale at very interesting prices, as well as Giant Propel framesets, but that is still like 600 to 1000€ more than a Quick Pro Er:One (I am including the handlebar for the Quick Pro).

I am not sure at all that the price difference will be that big when selling the bike, especially for people that will keep the bike for at least 3-4 years.

It Will take some serious effort from the eastern brands to establish themselves enough to have any sort of resale value outside of the small racing/enthusiast comminuty. Don’t forget that you are in an echo chamber here.

I imagine this will be disappointing to many: the 300 USD charge for custom painting is now mandatory -- they are no longer selling unbranded frames (the default paint option) to individual buyers.

Starting with the new models LCR020-D , we will no longer sell the  unbranded frames to individual consumers.
Brand customers can affix their own logos, while individual consumers must affix the LIGHTCARBON logo.
Following our standard design, customers can choose between a large or small logo (but not no logo).
If individual customers insist on a matte or carbon raw, unbranded frame, the price will be the same as for frames with the LIGHTCARBON logo.
Customized fee or just add LIGHTCARBON logos on LCR020-D costs extra US$300/set
For more easily building, handlebar and seat post remain standard black matte finish .

I just want to clarify the paint options. If I do not want custom paint and just want the standard finish, is there an option that does not have the $300 fee?

I thought the $300 fee was only for custom paint jobs, so I wanted to make sure I understand the base cost.

I can understand the decision to sell directly to consumers with their logo on the product...but charging $300 just to apply their logo and/or for a solid-color or clear coat finish seems absurd to me...you might as well just opt ​​for a "complex" custom paint job.

I love UD RAW Carbon Glossy. It is so stylish and it is the lightest and the cheapest. So why would I have to pay extra $300 for that?!

And if anything, by putting the LIGHTCARBON logo we are ADVERTISING their brand so we should actually get a discount if we are to have their logo forced onto the frame!

I think for a lot of people the forced logo and connected price hike is a nogo. Especially since most of the eastern brands have weird brand names / logos. If they want to build up a branded design they should at least do some effort in terms of branding.

I agree the $300 paint being required now is annoying but I the value with the $300 is still hard to beat. The bike frame with bar I am estimating with PP fees is about $1425 USD.

Frames with bar + shipping and fees (QP prices may be slightly off, had to convert from CAD to USD)
-LCR020 - $1425 USD with riser HB
-XMCS VRT - $2195 USD with riser HB
-QP ER 1 - $2335 USD with zypher SSL HB
-QP Blade - $1825 USD with zypher SL HB

If QP had a riser bar, I could see the blade being competition. Maybe the new RIME Aero QP is releasing in the next few days could be a contender. However a frame with 35mm clearance and a riser bar at this price, it seems LC is still the value champ for what you get.

so it's $300 for no logo, and also $300 for a logo, doesn't that mean they just raised the price $300? Am I missing something? I feel like they made the explanation way more complicated than it needed to be. It's just +300 USD and you have to really "insist on a matte or carbon raw, unbranded frame" if that is what you want.
