Hi All, first post. Joined as I'm leaning more towards Chinese products and saw the LCR020-D in some YT videos and was taken by it.

I was, and still may, going for the XMCS VRT but the LCR020-D looks a good option.

I've emailed LC but not heard anything back. Does anybody have more up to date details on when the frames will be available for order?

It depends since 2 176cm guys are not the same. I am also 176cm but I am size 54. Base the size on your current bike

My actual bike is a ktm revelador 5000, size 52. But several brands recomend the size 54, others 53 or 52 like scott.

Has anything about UCI homologation been mentioned from anyones communication with LC? Also any pictures of raiser bar?

I guess 1000g for size 54 indicate something around 1100 or just under for size 6 if it scales similar to LCR018.

I would imagine theyll try for a UCI certification again this time. The reason the lcr018 didnt get certified was their wind eye design and theyve dropped that for this frame

Aero-ish bikes today have no sloping simply because it is more efficient to have horizontal TT, a free aero gain on the table. The way to increase seatpost exposure (and to reduce frontal area further) is to make front triangle lower i.e. smaller HT and lower TT, then you compensate reduced stack with mandatory riser bars such as on S5/Y1RS.

It is very seldom to see modern all-out aero bike with sloping.

Indeed, most aero frames feature this characteristic (a horizontal top tube), and the reason is undoubtedly the one you mentioned... however, there are aero frames used in the WorldTour (such as the Cervélo S5 or Quick Pro Er:One) that have a more sloping top tube.

We submitted our UCI certification application for LCR018-D several months ago, but it took us a long time to receive a reply from UCI. They said that the bottom edge height of the eagle-eye design on our LCR018-D is 5mm, and according to the latest UCI rules, it must be changed to at least 10mm (the UCI rules have recently been revised, and even SEKA's eye design was notified that it does not comply with the new regulations). If this area is changed to 10mm, the eagle-eye design will not look good. Moreover, considering that we already have many outstanding orders and are busy with production, we do not plan to change the design or molds for the time being, so we are temporarily suspending the UCI application for this model.

Back on the LCR020, the jump is painting cost is a real bummer to me. I was previously able to get LC decals with one colour for $120. I think it is a little crazy to pay to for decals to advertise their brand... Do we know what the limit of the $300 customization fee is? How many colours, decal number, etc?

Get it black matt or gloss, and get whatever decals you want cut locally or online. The moment you change your mind, change decals. The moment you sell it, remove them. You can do colour decals too.

Save time, weight, money, and a risk that you order X after a lengthy design process, and receive Y instead.

Edit: as written above, you can get decals cut locally or online. i got mine cut locally. you can also get stuff cut and shipped via aliexpress or other websites. vinyl cutters are very widespread, and vinyl is cheap. it's been used in the car tuning community forever.

If I could sub matte finish to glossy finish at no extra cost, I would consider it. What I really wanted was candy paint over the raw carbon to get something like the link below. For $300 USD that is hard to justify for me. I guess I have plenty of time to figure out what I want/willing to pay for.

On the other side of that, does it give them more work charging a flat fee? If I am going to pay the $300 customization fee, I am no longer doing 1 colour. I am going all in and doing a more complicated design. I am sure they have a good reason and weighed out the pros/cons. Just a bummer as the price now jumps the total cost enough to make me consider other frames a bit more. 

The VRT does not come with bars, so add $250 for bar, the price gap shrinks a bit but is still big enough with a $731 difference. VRT at $1900 ($1650 + $250) and LCR020 at $1169 ($869 + $300). *Assuming shipping and PP % charges remain the same between the two brands

I must have missed a few points in that discussion... if I were to be cynical - given the success certain Chinese brands (like Seka) are enjoying - I’d say the UCI's reasoning is aimed at protecting specific interests and/or discouraging the purchase of Asian brands.

As for the price Lightcarbon charges for custom painting, it seems too high to me as well, considering you’d likely spend the same amount getting it painted locally....and I also find it absurd to charge extra just for the brand decals.
Sure, paying more for customization makes sense, but charging extra for a basic solid color plus a logo might actually backfire on them....unless, of course, they’ve crunched the numbers and realized that most buyers of these frames opt for a clear-coat finish with no logos.
