Road boost gravel wheel
« on: May 17, 2026, 12:22:33 PM »
I bought my first gravel bike last year, and after trying different models at my local bike shops, I got the Focus Atlas. What the seller didn't mention, and lack of experience made me miss, was the "road boost" axle dimentions (12x110 front and 12x148 back). I now want to upgrade the wheels/add a wheel set for road use, but it's almost impossible to find wheels that match this standard. Does anyone have any experience or tips buying road boost gravel wheels from Ali Express or similar sites? Looking for carbon wheels or high performance aluminium.

You can use normal wheel spacing and just replace the hub end caps to get boost spacing. At least DT Swiss hubs are easily converted to boost. I don't know how common this is on Chinese hubs. There are lots of DT hub copies so I guess it should be fairly easy to do. But of course this won't get you boost chainline if you're after that.

You don't need anything custom. Use boost mtb whell with a narrow rim..

Thank you for your answers. As far as I know MTB-wheels are 15x110 front, so that would only work for rear wheel. And regarding adding spacers, I have looked into that, but from the instructions I have read it is hard to get the spacing for breaks and derailleur correct, but that is an alternative if I can't find wheels that fit.
I will look at Elitewheels, thanks!

Yes that's right, MTB boost front hub has 15x110 axle.
But you can use a hub adaptor 15x110 to 12x110 axle to make MTB boost front wheels fit your road boost bike, just search on AliX or at domestic bike shops.

Hi! As I’ve already recommended to others on this forum, many manufacturers will actually build custom hub configurations upon request. For example, with EliteWheels, I just bought these https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005010607801234.html and sent them a private message with my exact specifications, and they replied right away confirming they could do it.
Have you recieved the wheels yet? Do they fit?

Not yet, it's in transit. Have you managed to contact them?

I tried contacting them, but got the reply that they can't deliver wheels with those dimensions..
