To be honest, if you’re on a budget, I think you can’t go wrong with  Serenade. They’ve just got a new 50mm profile rim 25mm internal at a guess maybe 1170grams that’s plenty light!!
. And knowing Serenade’s pricing, it’ll probably be around $500 with steel spokes Their carbon-spoke wheelsets are usually around $569 USD but that’s a guestimate you need to contact them
The profile is in there rim catalogue but I don’t think there selling it as a wheelset yet you woukd have to contact them

Would be very interesting… I’m helping my friend to build his bike and it’ll be hard to chose between xmcs and those. The price difference will be probably quite important.
Saying that, I love my xmcs (even though I find the freewheel very loud, don’t need a bell anymore tho)
