Author Topic: Chosing an carbon "Endurance" frameset (Long Teng RD301-D / Carbonda CFR-1136)  (Read 2716 times)

Hi all,

n00b here. I have just had to ditch long distance running due to an increasing number of injuries I have experiences over the last 24 months; aging REALLY sucks! C*cling has now become my primary sport and, while I do own a couple of road bikes, the best way to understand your sports equipment is to build/integrate it yourself.

So, I have been looking at a number of "endurance" frame. I had a look at a number of frames and the LT RD-301-D and the Carbonda CFR-1136 ended up on the shortlist. I am happy to entertain any other suggestions though.

I kind of like the Long Teng but there seems to be very little experience with this frame and some of the answers to my question from "Alisa" gave me pause regarding their expertise.

So, any thoughts on Long Teng or my choice?

Both are very well regarded OEMs, i don’t think you can go wrong with either

Get both geo charts, ask both sellers the hard questions, and go with whoever gives you straight answers and a solid warranty. The geometry numbers won't steer you wrong.

Good luck with the build — post pics when it's done

Carbonda 1136 appears to be much more upright with S:R of 1.5, most similar western Geo is Endurance/Defy. https://bikeinsights.com/compare?geometries=67ab5f3e2851ab001adac2e3,684c9fb039c908001ab2300f

LongTeng = Mondince, RD301 is much more racy with 1.43 and Geo more similar to Dogma F/ Y1Rs and Seka spear (like REALLY close with spear: https://bikeinsights.com/compare?geometries=66cc79bd7a85dc001b8dba11,66e9cf806e3dbf001b3a2032)

For sure the 1136 has a more relaxed geometry. If that's your highest priority for your health, that would be the choice .

I built one 2,5 years ago. It's a very nice bike, the owner is still super happy.

we know nothing about you, so can't really help.
My daily driver is long teng, the 268, i built 2 of these, and a dozen in total. I'm very happy w it. How relevant that is to you, unclear.
Carbonda a few years ago on this forum was super popular. I feel like they fell off the radar, maybe because they havent released new frames, i didnt check. Usually, they're associated w gravel more than road, and the opposite is true for LT.
Worth noting that someone on the forum received the new aero frame from Mondince, and the BB area is flexing in a way that seems excessive, if not alarming.
From this forum, quite a few people built a 301 and they re happy w it. For the price, the specs look very good (light, fancy fibers, great clearance...).

Is there a reason that you haven't considered a Light Carbon LCR018? From a geo point of view it's about as relaxed as you get from a Chinese manufacturer without buying a gravel bike. The XMCS gran turismo is also worth considering.
