Carbonda 909 120mm vs 100mm
« on: June 04, 2026, 02:08:41 PM »
Hi

I really love my 100mm 909 with 120 up front.
But.. I would like a new colour, so maybe a 120mm frame is worth it? ;-)

Anyone tried it?

Cheers

I haven't tried both but i do enjoy my 120/120. While you might want a new bike I think they are willing to sell you just a new link as that's the only difference. It will convert your 100mm travel to 120mm.

thanks

But the shock is the same stroke? Btw, mine is a 42,5mm which in theory gives around 106 mm of travel :-)

100mm is with 40mm stroke, 120mm with 45mm stroke (and the 120mm linkage)

The 120mm link with a 45mm stroke shock runs a slightly higher average leverage ratio, means the same air spring pressure gives you a slightly softer mid-stroke, is it right???

There's a chance you can pull a limit shim from inside of the shock to get 45mm travel. Assuming its the 42.5 Fox Performance everyone was buying for their 936 and 909 then you should be good, or easy for a shop to do.

I had the 936 with 120 upfront and 42.5, "106" in back and then built a 120/120 909 SL. It is definitely lighter, but that's partly down to the build, but that comes with a bit of rear flex for me, could be from light wheels. There is notable pedal bob when on pavement and not locked out. Sag is set at 20% so already high, I should probably try a spacer in it. It also rides a lot higher. The 120mm rockers for both bikes push the bottom bracket up and adjust the geo a bit. For a long time they didn't give updated charts but I believe their new website has real geo chart for 120.
