Carbonda CFR707 still relevant for DIY build?

Hi guys,

I am new here and maybe this question is asked a couple of times before...

I'm planning to build a Chinese carbon gravel bike. My eye fell on the Carbonda CFR707 but I noticed the frame model design is from 2021.

What is currently considered the standard/go to frame brand/model in the DIY building community?

Is Carbonda CFR707 still a relevant choice for a new build?

It doesn't have an internal storage compartment. Apart from that there is not really anything to complain about?

imo - no. carbonda has outdated BB drop, tire clearance and hasn't adjusted prices from the new competition. the 707 not as much, but the 696 is truly truly dead in 2026

If you like the frame and if it has the technical spec that you want, the geometry that suits you?
 Does it even matter if others say it's old?


It has some features as the 27.2mm round seat post which is rare for many of the very new models.

Tire width may be "outdated"  but not everyone wants to ride 60mm tires.. so that's not a bad point. It's just a specification. If it's what you want, it's good. If it's not what you want, it's not good (for you)

Regarding tire width: i can fit a Schwalbe thunder Burt 2.1 in there. So the only thing outdated on this frame is the storage box 🤷

Reviving this thread with this question:

I am looking to build a gravel bike with bikepacking potential for a friend who is 200cm tall. It seems like the Carbonda CFR707 is one of the few frames that has all the mounting points and also has a true XXL size with stack and reach that could work for someone 2 meters tall. Are there any more modern alternatives?
