Light Cycling

After reading a post in the FM126 topic, I wanted to find out more about Light Cycling, so I looked into this seller (https://light-cycling.com/). I’ve been chatting with him a lot lately, and honestly, he is super responsive and answers absolutely every question.

First thing: I really think that this is not a scam. To clear things up, He sells the exact same frames produced by Long Teng.

So, the real question is: Why choose Light Cycling ? In my opinion, there are three main reasons:
1) More choice is always a good thing: We already know these frames are high quality, so having another reliable alternative on the market is great for us.
2) A focus on custom paint: This seller really wants to stand out by offering high-quality, unique paint jobs. He’s currently working hard on this project and should be sharing photos within the next month to show what he can do.
3) A new mold in the works: He also aims to develop a brand-new road bike mold. If the seller listens to our feedback, we could end up with a frame that perfectly matches current market expectations.

Anyway, I recommend reaching out to him if you're in the market for a new frame. The best way is to message him directly and form your own opinion.

Personnaly, I think that I will try to order a frame from them. I will keep you inform.

It's a reseller, they don't develop or manufacture frames. They take standard catalog frames from factories like Long Teng or Mondince, spray them with your requested custom paintjob, and handle the shipping.

For now but They plan to make their own private mold.

By the way, Mondince is also a reseller, not a manufacture.

You're a bit lost, mate.
Mondince is an actual OEM/ODM manufacturer with its own factory and molding facility. They press the raw carbon, engineer the layups and test the frames.
Light Cycling is basically a trading broker and specialized paint service with a user-friendly ordering experience.

People believe what they want to believe. But yes, Light cycling is more focused on customers side and specialized paint service.

Hmm, no they're not? I might be wrong on that one, but what's your evidence?

The impression I get is that Mondince is a brand used by Huizhou Long Teng Sports Equipment Co., Ltd. For example, Mondince uses a picture of the Long Teng factory on their web site - certainly not conclusive evidence but at least if we go by Mondince's website, they are a manufacturer.

Precisely. My understanding is that Mondince operates within Long Teng. Long Teng is the factory. Mondince is some offshoot that focuses on marketing. If and when Mondince claims they are manufacturing stuff, my understanding is it's Long Teng. They're not necessarily lying, because these things dont have to be black and white. But the OEM / factory is LT; Mondince is a sister "company" / venture / brand / something.

I started typing, went afk for too long and now there's two more posts:) I agree with what you guys Serge_K and Chiyou say:

Long Teng, Huizhou Angle Sports Equipment (Angle Cycle), Mondince Cycle is the same company with shared leadership and infrastructure: Long Teng holds the physical-manufacturing plant assets, Angle Cycle is an export trading entity and Mondince is their direct-to-consumer brand, all operating at the same physical location.

I've also been talking with Daniel Zhang quite a bit recently.

He's clearly very keen to promote and grow his brand, although I did mention that the company name and branding might be worth reconsidering as they continue to develop.

Speaking with him has also shed a bit more light on the whole "OEM manufacturer" discussion that often comes up in the Chinese cycling industry. As many have already pointed out, Light Cycling currently sells open-mould frames, including some of the same frames produced by Long Teng. They also work with the same factory that manufactures frames for TanTan.

The frame shown below is an example of their upcoming model. While it is produced by the same factory as the new TanTan X68, the head tube and fork design have been modified. Some people will inevitably ask why so many brands produce frames that look similar, but the reality is that open-mould products are often the stepping stones that allow smaller companies to generate revenue, build a customer base and eventually invest in developing their own original designs and proprietary moulds.

The downside is that many brands end up selling very similar products and competing in the same marketplace. That's why areas such as after-sales support, communication, warranty handling and overall customer service become the key differentiators between one brand and another.

So far, Daniel has been very responsive, appears genuine, and seems genuinely interested in finding ways to promote and grow the company. It will be interesting to see how the brand develops over the next few years, particularly if they move forward with their own original frame designs.
