Chinese carbon crank with wider spindle?
« on: August 30, 2026, 03:08:13 AM »
Anyone tried using Hudud or Ullicyc carbon cranks with wider spindle?
I plan to build a 2x gravel bike and need to push the chainrings 2.5-3mm out to clear the chainstay and tire.
There are no "GRX" or "DUB wide" Chinese carbon cranks, but noticed that Hudud and Ullicyc are selling different length spindles on AliExpress which should do the trick. Anyone tried this?

(I have a suspicion that the TI spindle can actually be used on all the similar carbon cranks, as they probably sourch from the same vendor)

In theory, they could work.  The problem area could be with the spindle's  splines that mate with the crank arms. Are the machined splines, aka. (Wave taper interface) machined exactly to the SRAM standard?  It is possible that visually they look similar, but due to SRAM patents, they have made slight changes, and might not properly fit in a true DUB or GRX based crank am.   Crank arms could come lose, or get stuck on.
Specifically ask the seller if their spindle is 100% interchangeable with SRAM DUB or GRX

Also confirm if the axle lengths of 121, 125, and 129 are measured end-to-end, or outside-to-outside of the bearing surfaces.

I have been looking for 30mm diameter spindles that fit Race Face Cinch cranks since their prices doubled this year for OEM Race Face Spindles.

My situation is easier, as I don't plan to reuse an old crank, but buy a new one with a longer spindle... If crank and spindle are from same supplier, chances are high that they match. Just wanted to know if anyone have tried already...

Race Face carbon crank's design are based on using different length spindles to be compatible with different width BB shell widths.   There are so many BB standards and frame shell widths that different length spindles are needed.

With a wider spindle, you'd need to make sure the bearing spacing would be wide enough to line up with the raised sections of the spindle. It could be a problem if your frame is press fit but could be OK with BB spacers if your frame is threaded.

Frame has T47 bb, so spacers should be easy to install.

Contacted Hudud on Taobao and they can deliver their Q01 carbon crank with a 129mm wide spindle instead of the standard 122mm. That will move the chainline outward by 3.5mm (1mm more than standard DUB wide) and should do the trick…
(They also have a 125mm spindle, but that’s probably not enough)

I was about to ask the same question
I need to get to a 55mm chain line on a 2023 Scott spark
I saw a reasonable price on these that lexon carbon cranks, but based on reviews the spindle is a little too short

So I was thinking of finding a longer spindle but that might end up being a can of worms

Do you have a link to the crankset you were looking at

RYET are claiming a 53.8mm chainline with 0 offset chainring. In my experience that will work with the 55mm requirement of the Scott. 1.2mm is minimal offset, and you could put a spacer on the driveside if anything is rubbing...
The Hudud crank is for road, so will not get you anywhere near 55mm chainline. You will need a MTB specific crank
