Scheduled Maintenance & Forum Upgrade – Sunday, October 18

Just a quick heads-up that Chinertown will be undergoing scheduled server maintenance and hopefully a forum software upgrade this Sunday, October 18.

The forum may be placed in maintenance mode for a few hours during the process, so you may experience some temporary downtime starting around 3:00 PM CDT (20:00 UTC).

We're attempting to upgrade to the latest version of SMF while also moving to a new upgraded server. If successful, the upgrade should bring some long-requested improvements, such as better mobile compatibility, automatic image resizing, the ability to tag other members, and a few other features.

If the upgrade doesn't go as planned, we'll simply try again another weekend. One way or another, we'll get there!

EDIT: Was a long night but I think it's done. Hopefully everything is functioning properly. We're still fine thing some things so if you see any bugs or issues with the new software please chime in and let us know.

Also, again I really appreciate this community hanging in there. I know the forum's tech stack has been behind the times for... it's whole history lol, but I think it's finally completely up to date.

Last but not least, I'd like to give a big thanks to 2 forum members that stepped up and helped me with this transition/upgrade. I couldn't have done it without them and they were so very professional and competent. I really appreciate it, @FrancescoVigo and @leonardo_m . You guys could have totally taken advantage of my inexperience with these things and you were nothing but patient and trustworthy. Thanks.
