MTBR Forums Hacked
« on: April 08, 2016, 08:51:15 AM »
Looks like anything you click on in the Forums section on MTBR opens a new window for a online reseller.  Seems like the forums got hacked.  I tried two different browsers, same problem.  Hopefully something like this can't or won't happen to ChinerTown.

In the meantime, we might see a jump in the amount of traffic coming here if MTBR is essentially down.

I too see an ungodly number of ads clicking in the MTBR forum.

Oh wait, it is working normally for me.  Just the normal barrage of ads.

edit- Spoke too soon.  I went direct to a forum page from my history and it worked, but now if I try to click anything else I get the popup spam.

Yep same here. That said, there all already soooo many annoying ads on mtbr. I much prefer the cleaner look of this forum, although I would totally understand wanting to throw 1 or 2 ads up in order to pay the light bills and make a bit of profit maybe. Key is just keep them minimal and relevant. Mtbr ads are outta control.

Are you guys not using AdBlock Plus? If you're not, stop farting around and install it. I just hit the MTBR forums and aside from all my previously stated problems with the forums (which I won't rehash) the advertising is under control thanks to AdBlock Plus.

I have ABP set up to allow some reasonable advertising, so I see some stuff on the right side, but none of the pop-up stuff you're talking about.
