Re: Airwolf 29er Full Suspension Build
the bike is now finished. i am pretty happy with it, this is my first full suspension ride, i was worried about peddle bob, but it is almost non-existent. the frame seems to hold up for now. let's see how it does long term. the whole bike weighed in at 13.5kg. October 14, 2020, 10:47:09 PM |

Re: ZTTO BB92 BB86 threaded bottom brackets.
I have one on my carbonda FM936 and its really really well made. I can't speak to the bearings quality but the shell is good. The plastic top hats were about 0.01-0.02mm too thick so a little bit of sand paper and it was golden. the top hats space the bearing and the axle. The 4 o-rings should be good for a little bit of tollerance issue maybe 0.05-0.1mm. I've not actually ridden the bb yet but it went in very nicely. October 15, 2020, 04:48:48 AM |

Re: ZTTO BB92 BB86 threaded bottom brackets.
I did put one on my 062 few months ago, changed the steel bearings immediately, with good ones, as they were with metal sleeves. No problem so far. Screwing the two cups together until flush, make the assembly strong. I did put loctite compound over the last centimeter on each side before pressing. October 15, 2020, 09:56:20 AM |

Re: Another Tan Tan FM10
I've had a lot of questions about the Dairs wheels, so I wanted to post here that... they never showed up I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong with that. On the other hand, the light bicycle AM733s I have are fantastic, and the bitex hubs are the best I've ever had on a bike (but I've never had much top shelf gear, so this whole bike is really a massive upgrade for me). The Fovno cranks - I did have trouble with them, but I think there may have been some 'operator error' on those, so I'm not convinced the parts are shit, it's possible the shit's on me for that one. I've gotten my hands on a new crank bolt and am going to do some more testing before I call them a waste of money. Hopefully I'll have some updates in the spring. Have had a blast on the bike though! I think that going with the cheap frame and cheap components all around except for wheels and suspension was the right call, at least for me. November 06, 2020, 12:40:19 AM |

Re: ZTTO BB92 BB86 threaded bottom brackets.
What cranksets are you all using with this BB? I'm using this onehttps://www.aliexpress.com/item/32920639633.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dq2WAt4 and the spindle is too short to house all the way into the non drive-side crank arm properly, it's about 4mm short. I suspect the thicker flanges on this BB are the problem. Shimano XT 12s boost Ah thats frustrating. 4mm is alot. The XT ones fit pretty well. You're right, it's hardly worth it! So last night I was boxing my bike for a flight. And I had to remove my power meter and therefore the cranks too. I tried to get the crank shaft out and I wouldn't come out, tapping away (gently) did nothing, I have to unscrew the BB with the driveside crank still attached and the axle in there. The damn top hats. I'm going to replace the bearings with 24mm ID ones. According to this https://www.mtbr.com/threads/ztto-bb92-thread-together-bottom-bracket-for-24mm-shimano.1112783/ I can replace them with these and remove the need for the plastic shim https://wheelsmfg.com/products/bottom-bracket-parts/bb-bearings/enduro-24x37-abec-3-sealed-bearings-bag-of-2.html January 15, 2021, 04:55:57 AM |

Re: ZTTO chains
ZTTO usually has pretty decent products and from what I've heard take care of their customers. Zrace chains are made by Sumc and YBN according to this Ebay listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/312792999687

Re: Pulled the Trigger on an FM10 from TanTan
Thanks for the response. Not sure I want to try it and find out. Interestingly it feels like aluminum with a carbon fiber wrap but I am not sure if that is correct. Got my rear shock off PinkBike this week. $250 delivered. DPX2 185x55. 1 step closer. February 12, 2021, 05:50:09 PM |

Re: TanTan FM10 29/27.5+
As soon as I regulate it in pressure, I'll tell you. something technical? Yes ... but I have low pressure. the rebound setting it has is like all of them, roulette from + to -, only 5 clicks. but without being well charged with his air I cannot give you a conclusion. as soon as I can get out more times because of the virus, I'll write to you. Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame
...Is there somebody who already tried riding a 20mm stem on a long bike ? Do you think that it is completely stupid ?.... I know this is a bit old, but I saw it mentioned a couple times and there is no such thing as a 20mm stem! Except maybe the bolt on stems that are on double crown DH forks. I believe 35mm is the shortest stem using traditional bars and stem. When you have a 1 1/8" steer tube (28.6mm) and a 31.8mm handlebar diameter, even if they are touching each other with zero stem between them, thats 28.6+31.8=60.4mm รท 2 = 30.2mm center to center. Once you add a little bit of separation and some material for the clamps you're right around 35mm as the shortest possible unless you start notching the handlebar and/or the steerer to essentially get them to partially intersect each other and even then you're only going to knock off a few mm from the total Anyways, I read that a couple times and the engineer in me couldn't not point it out...
