Vendor Discussion & Reviews / 007Bike on AliExpress
« on: May 02, 2024, 07:35:41 PM »
What happened to 007Bike on AliExpress?
I purchased a number of goods from them without complaint or issue but they have been on "Vacation Leave" for some time now and I have just noticed that their approval rating has dropped to 87.5%

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: And the winner is....
« on: September 21, 2022, 12:19:34 AM »
Hi Sitar_Ned, well done to you for organising this and being as transparent as you have been with the process. Obviously, given my vocal objection to the way the sponsor has treated people on this site re a certain frame, I didn't enter but I do have a question for you if I may.

What is to stop anyone that has seen this thread from email Eddy and saying they are mwh0169?  Would it not have been better that initial contact between the two was done through PM here?

Just a thought, and again, thanks and well done.

Component Deals & Selection / Aliexpress Disputes
« on: September 13, 2021, 01:05:29 AM »
Does anyone know how you can start an Aliexpress dispute before the delivery time has expired?

In pre-covid days it wasn't too bad because delivery windows where generally about 35 days, now they are over two months.  I have a seller that has provided me with two fake tracking numbers. Neither one has ever become active .  I contacted the seller and he said open a dispute, select return goods, "you don't have to return goods", and I will refund you immediately.  No hint asking me to be patient or anything else, like he was just waiting for me to ask because he knew the goods were not sent.

I have tried the dispute button and the default position is the system shows the goods have been sent because I have a tracking number so I have to wait for the delivery period.  Ava is useless for this and I can't find any actual contact button that gives you the option to talk to a human.

I don't want to take the sellers proposal because I fear that once I select "return goods" it is then very hard to argue I never received them, I also think that will negate the ability for me to select Open a dispute once the delivery window has expired.

Hundreds of orders and this is the first one that hasn't been sent.  The seller now has a rating less than 90% (it was well above 90% when I ordered) and several people are now complaining about goods not being sent or fake tracking numbers.

Thanks.

Component Deals & Selection / Warning Deckas cranks
« on: August 03, 2021, 02:20:53 AM »
Just want to give a warning for anyone using the 170mm Deckas  cranks. My 60kg boy did this to ones on his Transition Patrol when he over shot a big jump and landed to flat.   I can't fond an order for them on my Ali account so can't link them here or work exactly how long he has had them, I think they were sent in lieu of BDSnail branded ones on one of my orders.  Not overly concerned about "warranty" or anything like that because I know they have been well used but just wanted to put a warning out there for anyone else using them to keep an eye on them if you send it large or have a habit of landing to flat.

Component Deals & Selection / ZTTO chains
« on: February 09, 2021, 04:22:03 PM »
Anyone had experience with the ZTTO 11sp chains?  They seem to be doing reasonable quality stuff with their other items and I'm wondering what their chains are like.  I did see the other ZRace thread and it seems to have mixed reviews from the small sample size that replied.

OK, so I had a set of Sun Ringle Duroc 50's on order for a grand total of $535A, about $380USD, only to be told 4 days after paying for them that they were out of stock and it might be 2 months before they are back in stock.  I'm now on the hunt again for a pair of 27.5 wheels with an internal rim width of 40mm to 45mm, this is the recommended internal width by Maxxis for 2.8's and 3.0s

Does anyone have any recommendations in that budget range? Must be genuine boost hubs, not 142's or 135's and made to suit with spacers.

I have found these  https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32943634451.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.8.7d8c5257jhwaJG, considerably more than budgeted for but also about 400gm lighter. My concern is that 1, I can't find any reviews for Dair wheels other than those on their page and 2 it is my understanding that those Novatec hubs are convertible from 135mm through to 148mm. That means the hub flanges must be at the 135mm width which kind of defeats the whole purpose of having boost wheels.

So, any feedback on that manufacturer / reseller, any solid info on those Novatec hubs, any other recommendations, ideally around the $500USD mark.

Thanks in advance

Must be genuine boost hubs, not 142's or 135's and made to suit with spacers preferably 6 bolt and shimano 11s compatible

Component Deals & Selection / ZTTO BB92 BB86 threaded bottom brackets.
« on: October 15, 2020, 01:33:38 AM »
Does anyone have any experience with the ZTTO threaded BB86 / BB92 bottom brackets, either ceramic or normal?  https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33021799492.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.10.551c4f0d8pC56Q

I'm ask because I am wondering if those 4 o-rings used to seal the frame are enough to cause any movement in the bb or if the fact that it is threaded and screws together is enough offset and "squish" the o rings might cause?

TIA

Component Deals & Selection / AliExpress Coupons
« on: September 27, 2020, 06:18:57 PM »
Anyone got any Aliexpress coupons they care to share?  I'm trying to get a $1008AUD order under $1000 so I don't get slugged with customs fees and duties inbound. The store has a $14 discount coupon which has already been applied.

TIA

29+ & 27+ / ICAN 650B Boost Plus wheelset
« on: August 20, 2020, 03:31:02 PM »
Anybody tried these or any other wheels from ICAN for that matter?  44.8mm internal, under 2kg total weight per set and under $1000A sounds interesting.

After The Ride / What is "All Mountain" and good "Technique"
« on: July 30, 2020, 10:56:17 PM »
So this is a bit off topic as far as Chinertown goes but it is relevant as it's about a 150mm / 140mm travel "All Mountain" carbon frame.

I'm doing a warranty dance with a branded manufacturer that I won't yet name as the dance continues. They have denied a warranty claim on my son's 150mm front / 140mm rear "All Mountain frame"

Specifics
150 Fox 34 front 140mm rear Rockshos Debonair Monarch Plus RC3 rear
48 kg (108lb) rider weight
Frame size small.

He landed a gap jump and the bottom race of the head set failed, compressing up into the frame, taking the bottom cup and some of the underside of the down tube up with it. Front wheel then washed out and he ended up going down on his side.  They have claimed I did the headset up too tight, the jump was much bigger than I said. I challenged both of those and they then suggested he landed flat, not proper technique,  or the jump was bigger than I have told them.

Under Australian consumer law I am covered by what a reasonable person would consider normal use AND would I have bought the frame knowing these new limitations.

So I have two questions to gauge what other reasonable people think.

1) what size gap jumps would you expect reasonable for a 150mm front / 140mm rear carbon dual suspension all mountain frame?
2) what do you consider proper landing technique in terms of which wheel should land first?

I have two polls going on MTBR, if you have posting access there I would appreciate you answering the polls.

Thanks for your help.

Any recommendations for a torque wrench / drive from aliexpress or banggood?  I am a little dubious about how accurate they are so would like some feedback re what to avoid and what appears reliable.

Thanks in advance

29+ & 27+ / Motobecane Hal Boost CF Frame
« on: April 21, 2020, 06:46:43 PM »
Anyone familiar with or recognise this frame from Motobecane / Bikesdirect? Looks exactly what I have been looking for with the exception of the 68mm BSA BB.
