Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame has anyone bought a frame that included decals? how did the paint job/decal quality end up being and how much it ended up costing? My dengfu was painted but the paint isnt of good quality as its pretty easy to chip away at the paint, as i have a handful of chips in the paint.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
After some luking and reading all the thread... Finally order a 168.

It will be dress with Rival/Force AXS bits and probably a Ryet 40mm wheelset.

I hope to be on the 8kg edge... Let's see!

Similar setup to me! Force/Rival defintely seems to be the sweet spot right now price wise.

Re: Shimano GRX brake adjustment Thanks for the suggestions. I will loosen the calipers and see what happens when I squeeze the lever. I did not have the mounts faced, so that is a possibility.

I can probably improve the trueness of the rotors a bit. If I still can't make any progress, I'll try bleeding a small amount of fluid.

CarbonSpeedCycle CSC wheels - avoid them Hi everyone, I recently bought a set of CSC wheels on Aliexpress (reference: Europe Stock UCI Certificated 35/38/45/50/60mm T800 Carbon Disc Brake Wheels), I write here my experience hoping it is useful for the future customers.

Tubeless ready, 50mm deep, 18mm inner width, CSCT31 hub, six bolts. The package arrived a bit damaged, and the rim had some little scratches in the bed of the rim, nothing to worry about according to the seller. After a couple of rides, the rear wheel got a little lateral play. I contacted the seller to get technical specs of the hub, in order to fix the lateral play. The seller refused to provide me any information on the hub. I have to guess how to dissassemble the hub and solve the issue. The seller now blocked me, I cannot contact them anymore.

In my experience, CSC is not a professional seller. I have assembled several bikes, starting from the frame, and I have bought from many chinese sellers and manifacturers. When they block you, it is the signal. I got this experience only with CSC and TanTan/Seraph (couple of years ago).

Re: CarbonSpeedCycle CSC wheels - avoid them I have rim brake version on Giant Propel Advanced, and ride around 15.000 kilometers without any maintance or service. Brake surface is almost like new. I can't say anything bad for it.

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056 Hi all. I wanted to share a pic of my completed CFR1056 build as well as thank everyone for the contributions to this thread that helped me figure it all out. This is my first bike build, so there was a ton of learning in the process. A particular thank you to "2old2mould" for sharing his file for design that I leveraged in communicating with Wing. Details on what I ended up with:

The big stuff:
Frame: FM1056 Size M. (I'm 5'10 w/ 32" inseam and not super fit/flexy). Internal routing. 2-tone paint glossy.
Bottom Bracket: BSA-68
Groupset: Shimano 105 r7000. Hydraulic disc brakes, 11 speed.
Wheels: Elitewheels ENT Disc. 45mm depth; 28mm external width. Tubeless compatible.
Tires: Continental Grand Prix S TR - 28mm
Power Meter: Stages L Side for Shimano r7000
Stem: FSA SMR ACR Stem - 90mm
Headset: NO. 55R 1.5" ACR STD
Handlebar: Ritchey WCS Streem Internal Routing Handlebar
Pedals: SHIMANO PDM520 Clipless SPD

The little stuff:
Hydraulic Hoses: Shimano SM-BH90 Disc Brake Hose
Shifter Cables: Shimano Dura-Ace R9100 Shift Cable Set
Tubeless Tape: Zukka Tubeless Tape 23mm
Handlebar Pads: Selle Italia Bar Tape Shock Absorbing Pads
Bar Tape: Domain Cycling Handlebar Tape & Bar Ends (94" x 1.2")

Build Learnings: Building the bike was an adventure and YouTube intensive. I had three major issues. First, an end cap for the front wheel hub went missing during the build, and since I didn't know better, I didn't realize a part was missing. This required finding a replacement. As the wheels are from a China based company, that took a lot of work to get sorted out. Checking for loose pieces everywhere before throwing out packaging would have saved me from this. Second, the original lock ring I had for the front brake rotor was too large and rubbed against the fork. I had to swap to a TRP Centerlock ring that was angled (narrow on the outside edge) to create space. Third, the holes for the rear brake caliper were slightly misaligned. This created rub between the brake pads and the rotor even without squeezing the brake levers. My local bike shop was unable to fix this issue, and Wing wasn't responsive. After ~50 miles of riding, the brake pads wore down a bit to allow free movement, but it feels like riding into a headwind until that happens. Will be annoying with each new set of pads. Fourth, while I wanted to go fully integrated, I wasn't sure on fit and feel. So I used the semi-integrated cabling route through the stem to allow some extra cable length. Once I've dialed everything in, I may go through the effort of routing through the handlebar directly and going fully integrated.

I did have my local shop complete an inspection/tune on the bike before riding it, and they found a few mistakes I made and corrected them. I highly recommend going that route if this is your first build or you lack 100% confidence in your skills. Overall, great experience.

Re: Caved in and ordered a clearance Spcycle SP-027D Frameset I finally finished this bike build! It took me longer than expected of about 1 1/2 days. Everything was going smooth until I noticed the rear TA dropouts were slightly loose. I had to really tighten the rear TA to have it sit snug. I installed a ZTTO PF bottom bracket and that definitely was a headache. It probably didn't help I had a few shots of tequila while installing it. I'll make sure to get a threaded BSA or T47 frameset next time! Indexing carbon Sensah Team Pro shifters to work with my 105 R7000 was a PITA, I had to pull super hard on the shift cable. In fact Sensah did some tweaks that make it different from the Sensah alloy shifters I was using. Also the front fork cable hole was too small causing even more cable routing headaches.

Every time I build a bike, I think it's going to be easy and it never is! I consider this bike somewhat of a proof of concept build using mostly AliEx parts. Though I'm partial to Shimano derailleurs. Time to ride the bike!

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Ready to race! Got the bars wrapped and brakes bled. Took it out for a shakedown ride and everything feels great. I think I'd be hard pressed to tell much of a difference between this and the SL7, apart from weight making the SL7 slightly more snappy. I went 1x because this will be a crit bike and I didn't feel like dealing with routing another cable and a front mech. If I upgrade to electronic in the future I'd probably throw on a front mech but this was a budget build so I'm happy with the mech group I had laying around. Considering buying some decals for the wheels. I don;t like the new Zipp logo, think I'd go with the old logo in white. I love the look of white logos on wheels.

168 Frameset, size 58
Zipp 404 Firecrest wheels, Challenge Criterium RS tires 27mm, Muc Off valve stems, 160/140 discs
Shimano 105 mech grupo, 50t AbsoluteBlack chainring, 11-30t cassette
Kocevlo 1 piece bar/stem, 40cm/120mm, LizardSkins tape, Supacaz bar ends and stem cap
West Biking 3D printed saddle
ZTTO bottle cages
Look Pedals
Rapilock thru axles

Just another photo...
