Sensah Empire Pro Carbon 2x12 photos and weights For anyone interested, here are the weights associated with the Sensah Empire Pro Carbon 2x12 groupset.

This is from the Sensah Store on Aliexpess.
The cassette has been swapped for a heavier one after complaints of pre-mature wear from the lightweight one.  This has increased the weight by 160 grams, but still is in line with an equivalent 105 cassette.

The chain is YBN.

Re: Sensah Empire Pro Carbon 2x12 photos and weights Confirmed it has the aluminum part.
I believe all the 2x12s are like this, and only older 11-speed Empires have the plastic mechanism

Re: New Wheel Day - Elite Wheels BWT Disc Apparently reduced drag, especially at different yaw angles, and less buffeting during cross-winds relative to standard toroidal shaped aero wheels.
Other knock on effects, the shallower areas use less material because they are shallower and apparently because less reinforcement is necessary resulting in thinner walls in the shallow areas, resulting I weight savings.... apparently

Haven't seen any independent studies, so it could all be baloney.

Re: New Wheel Day - Elite Wheels BWT Disc

I just check the alibaba vendor,  it says  Type: Tubeless

but is it clincher compatible too ??   I am confused.

TLDR: It's a tubeless ready(TR)/tubeless compatible(TC) rim (these terms are interchangeable)
Meaning that it has a rim profile capable of accommodating a tubeless tire, but will still take a clincher as well.

In reality, most tubeless rims are actually TR
In fact, the difference between TR rim and a standard clincher is pretty small. To the point where some have success converting a clincher rim to tubeless.  YMMV.
The rim profile on the TR just helps a tubeless tire mate better with the rim for a tighter seal.

However, there are dedicated tubeless rims where the spoke holes are covered, and they have a special rim profile to mate with special tubeless tires to create a seal with tape or sealant  (eg UST tubeless).
This is not that type of wheel.

Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) The thing I love about binge shipping on AliX is that feeling of Christmas every day as packages show up at the door.

These are the flat mount dual piston, cable-actuated hydraulic calipers from Juin Tech.
As far as I know, these are rebranded and sold as Yokozuna Ultimas (Ultimo?) as well.

Comes with two sets of what appears to be organic brake pads.
Not strictly a Chiner part, as they are not from Mainland China.

332 for both calipers, pads, and hardware.  Maybe a bit less, as the cardboard spacers were still in the calipers.
Cost: about $222USD.

Re: Elite Wheels ENT vs Elite Wheels SLT vs Velobuild VB-RC I am in Canada as well
I went with Elite wheels (BWT Series)

Reason is simple.  Maybe VB wheels are good, maybe not but Elite is a dedicated wheel and hub manufacturer.
Also Elitewheels has a better selection of hubs (not the ENT), as well as lightweight spoke options.

If you are price conscious, get the wheels direct from Xiamen YuanAn Conposites on Alibaba
This is the name of the company that owns the Elite Wheels brand

I paid $715 CAD for the BWT wheel set with the Pillar 1420 upgrade, and RD13 hubs
This price includes shipping, but not duties, which you will likely get dinged with.
Compare to the price of the same wheels from the Elite site before shipping:
https://www.elite-wheel.com/elitewheels-bwt-aerodynamics-wheelset-45mm-rim-depth-tubeless-compatible-p3119055.html?currency=CAD

Elite also has an AliX store which is a bit cheaper than their retail site

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame It's in the mail!

Interested to see how it turns out in person.  The chameleon red/black looks almost purple.
Also he said they painted the seat post, which I didn't ask for, but it might work out.

Edit: I am not smoking right? This is clearly Chameleon purple.
Should I care, or leave well enough alone?

Re: merlincycles.com : taxes for a canadian ?
Hi,

Any canadian in the forum who bought  from merlincycles.com ?
I am wondering if we get the taxes on delivery on it is a gamble ?

Thanks

My guess would be similar to Chainreaction Cycles, it will be hit or miss, but most likely "hit" on a high value item

Re: Shifter and brake cables and housing
Hello, I'm waiting for my velobuild 168 frame, I've already bought sensah empire 2x11 and zrace brakes, can anyone suggest me which housing and cables choose for them? Thanks

TRLREQ Teflon coated shifter and brake cables

Jagwire KEB-SL compressionless brake housing (for cable actuated hydraulic brakes, you want compressionless). There is the Yokozuna Reaction housing as well, but good luck fitting that and shifter housing through the handlebars.

There are a lot of shifter housing options, but I am using Shimano OT-SP41
