Please post the lightest hardtail frames you've found, in the same vein as the S-Works Epic HT (790g), the new Ridley Probe RS (760g) or a Mondraker Podium Carbon (775g)
I'm having a hard time finding anything even sub 1000g, let alone sub 800g.

I just came across the Spcycle SP-M038 which claims to be 780g!

Can't find any mention of someone online actually reviewing one or even talking about it though.

Nice find, and good price!
The M038 with an eccentric BB would make for a really light single speed.

Agreed. Very tempting.
Great looking option but be aware that the rear brake mount is the same as the M016 frame so some calipers will not work. For Shimano, SLX and up will be fine but some of the cheaper ones, M6000 in particular, have a bleed port casting that hits the frame.

An M6000 brake on a 800g frame seems like an oxymoron.
I'd look for a set of used Level TLM Ultimates for a budget build.

I purchased one of these frame about 1-1/2 years ago. Finally built it up about 6 months ago. Bike total weight can just under 19 lbs, with a Sid Ultimate SL 100mm travel fork.
(Total Weight depends more on what wheels and tires I am running on it.) To date, I really like how I build up this bike. It climbs well, it is a 'lively' great handling frame. So far, I really like the bike!!!
could you share built specs to have a reference?

Did you weigh the frame before you built it up by chance? Wondering how realistic that 780g number is.

If I recall, my large frame was just over 800 grams.

I'll take a picture as soon as I can and post along with description of the main components.

I also have a Wheels Mfg arriving next week to compare.

do weknow the "inspiration" for this frame design?
I had an airwolf frame in large. I'd need to check the number but that was 786g new. Mine cracked relatively quickly but it was a lively bike to ride. In the end my build was 7.6kg rigid. Lots of others had good experiences with that frame but I never have good luck. Any carbon frame and Ti frame i've owned has cracked somewhere and none of which were chiner (except the airwolf).
I don't come on here often but I think i'll give that SPCYCLE frame a go. I have lots of parts on my cannondale flash which could go over to that frame and i plan to build some 1kg wheels with those carbon/ti spokes to see if they're any good.

Yes, from the looks of it, they are using 2019 Specialized Epic HT geometry: https://geometrygeeks.bike/bike/specialized-epic-ht-2019/
I personally love that geometry which reinforces my interest in this bad boy

Sounds like we should let you beta test then lol

I haven't finished yet, but I'm building on the
SP-M038 frame size L (UD matte finish) . Weight without seatpost clamp, rear axle and without hanger is 830g. The quality of the threads workmanship is terrible. Communication with sp-cycle is not great either. I want to gift it to myself for Christmas. I'll be sure to write some report on the complete build then.

Man that sucks. Is there enough material for you to run a tap and clean the thread up?
Unfortunately, the threaded insert that is laminated in the frame is flattened around the edges, so there is not much room. I was going to put a Helicoil threaded insert in there, but somehow it's holding, so I'm not going to risk interfering with it just yet.
Hi there, any updates on your repair and riding it? thanks!
@spcycle has the Spcycle SP-M038 been discontinued? It's no longer on the site and shows as out of stock / no longer available on Aliexpress. Is there a new ultralight frame coming?

I have trifox sdy 20 and its a good frame its as light as the epic ht sworks I weighted it with hardware 850g in size L without seatpost clamp,i think it isn't the stiffest frame but it isn't that bad and sometimes you don't notice it until you reach like 1600w and more but it could be the crankset tbh

How accurate is your scale? Trifox claims 1030g on their website: https://www.trifoxbike.com/lightweight-carbon-mtb-hardtail-frame-boost-sdy20
to be honest i dont know but when i bought it the frame was listed a lot less (8\12\2022) and probably is pretty accurate because I weighted it on two scales and there was a difference but wasn't more than 10 grams, they probably changed with a different supplier or is listed more for tollerances, btw the bike for me is good and all my friend that race xc against me(juniores in Italy) are impressed about the weight of the bike (xtr, formula r1r,rotor carbon cranks with pm, carbon wheels are coming today, fox 32 sc......) and I spent like 2600 not more, some components I bought them second hand
if you want i could send you an excel file with all components price and weight, it isn't so accurate but isn't that bad
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1037JGuPYNjd9TxGat7EcIUgHLV7Xzng3HSC_oluY6NU/edit?usp=sharing
the price of r1r seem strange but I bought second hand at 50 euros for the set looool, I had magura t8 but they didn't work well but they changed them in warranty
so if someone want new mt8 I sell them at 220 euros

Hi there, any updates on your repair and riding it? thanks!
Man, buying anything from SP-Cycle was a huge mistake and their so-called warranty is just a slap in the face and a bad joke. I'd hate to see others make the same mistake - it'll save them a ton of headaches, at least. Trying to communicate with them is like talking to a brick wall. They don't want to deal with you at all. The only thing they'll tell you is that you can fix it with a tap, even after I told them we already tried that and the threads didn't last long before completely stripping out. Turns out there was no material left to recut the threads and we later found out that the threaded insert laminated into the frame was cracked, so it had to be removed and replaced with a new one, then the whole rear end had to be re-laminated with the new insert.
The whole repair ended up costing me the equivalent of $175 USD and I haven't received any compensation from SP-Cycle to this day. They're playing dead, even though they sent me a frame with a damaged thread straight from the factory and don't even get me started on the fact that the frame is starting to crack under the seat post clamp. I haven't put that many miles on the bike yet. It's been nothing but trouble so far, but I'm hoping I can finally get some decent rides in next season. On the bright side, the bike is really light and flies like a rocket.
Sorry for not posting an update sooner, I've just had a lot of other stuff on my plate and totally forgot about this forum. But I hope my experience can help others avoid making the same mistake I did.

Hi Ed.
I checked Aliexpress and I ordered it in early 2021 and the product listing doesn't exist so cannot confirm the model. Looking at the frame shape, the closest current Airwolf frame looks to be <thishttps://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006444464992.html?pdp_npi=4%40dis%21GBP%21%EF%BF%A1373.07%21%EF%BF%A1260.31%21%21%21445.72%21311.00%21%40211b612517366096725452063e9cc0%2112000037190871419%21sh%21UK%210%21X&spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allItems_or_groupList.new_all_items_2007585985325.1005006444464992&gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm#nav-specification (https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006444464992.html?pdp_npi=4%40dis%21GBP%21%EF%BF%A1373.07%21%EF%BF%A1260.31%21%21%21445.72%21311.00%21%40211b612517366096725452063e9cc0%2112000037190871419%21sh%21UK%210%21X&spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allItems_or_groupList.new_all_items_2007585985325.1005006444464992&gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm#nav-specification)> one which I cannot see a model number. Much heavier than mine was though.
