Title: Looking for endurance all round frameset, 32mm clearance, recommendations
Post by: vanbc on June 28, 2024, 10:11:39 AM
Hello, I am interested in building an all Chinese sourced bicycle components.
I am looking for an appropriate frame that can accommodate the following:
-32mm tire clearance as a minimum
-road frame
-disc
-can accommodate electronic shifting
-Endurance, all round ... oriented geometry (I just don't need hyper race geometry)
-Don't need the most cheap but looking to save money over buying north American brand frame (~$1000 USD?)

I was looking at the Elves Avari, however, it can only accommodate up to 30mm tire clearance.
Outside of this the bike seems appealing to me.
It is also oriented to a smaller rider which I am at 163cm.

velo build 066 is basically a copy of the Canyon Endurace.  I have the rim brake version and I love it.  they just updated the frame to have internal routing but I think the external routing version may still be available.

That frame is nice!

I'm surprised this ICAN site isn't selling their FL1 frame which is basically an Aethos clone with 32c tire clearance and T47 BB. I was quoted $595 USD + shipping.

ICAN's other website:

Thank you, only catch is that it says max tire clearance is 30mm.

I would consider Gravel bikes as they geometry as much more endurance friendly. Especially the CS-GR01:

Or lightcarbon:

I have the 2023 disc version of VeloBuild's 066 frame. I'm currently running 28mm Continental GP5000 that measure 29.4mm on my 21mm internal rim width wheels, and there's room to spare. Tyres that _actually_ measure 32mm would fit just fine. But a 32c tyre on a very wide rim that makes the tyre blow out to 34+mm would be a problem.

I I have a G056 that I really like but am kind of partial to the SPCYCLE G20. I would have bought if it had a T47 BB.

I bought a gravel last year thinking it would be a do it all bike. Awful idea. If you want a road bike, get a road bike. A gravel bike isn't a road bike. You can also do very occasional light gravel on a road bike with 32C tyres ( if you have to, it's a shit experience, but you won't puncture right away).
Caveat: if you get an aggressive gravel bike that might work better, but still. If you want a road bike, get a road bike.

Not a lot of details available on this one.
Max tire width 30mm.

The challenge is to get an all rounder Road bike. I don't know a lot of Chinese frame that offer this yet.

if i had to buy one today, i'd get the long teng 401. https://www.ltbikes.com/index/products/view/id/401.html
I have the 268 and love it, so i trust LT. I built 2 of their frames, both flawless.
LT OEMs for Argon 18 apparently.
I'd love to see one in the flesh. i have mixed feelings about a 38C clearance. Not sure if it's awesome, or too much.
Geometry wise it's close to the 268, which is aggressive enough if you slam the stem, but quite civilised with spacers. And definitely rides like a road bike.
