Title: Chain line "Pass Quest Aero Chainring + XCadey PM"
Post by: makl on April 23, 2025, 10:14:02 AM
Hi,

I'm planning to run a 1-by Pass Quest 110 bcd Aero Chainring on the "outer side" of a Xcadey powermeter. This is actually pictured like this on the Aliexpress webpage of the chain ring. However, I'm worried a bit, that the chainline might be too extreme in the lower gears, as the chainring doesn't seem to have any offset...

Does anybody have experience with such a setup?

I run the exact same setup on my Speeder SC-R55D with a Sram AXS drivetrain. I have no issues with chainline.

I ran the Sram Red Aero chainring PM on my old Giant Propel. Actually I cant feel any difference in either end of the cassette. From my POV there will always be a bit ratling in the lowest gear doing a 1X. I also have that on my gravel equipped with Sram XPLR.

But the Xcadey and Pass Quest combo is as good as the Sram Red aero PM.

Great, thanks! That's good to hear. I'll post back here to report my findings... (trying to run it with 13-speed Ekar 9-42).

I've had similar setup but with Magene P505 on my TT bike. I have to run it on the inner side of the spider as the chainline become extreme on lower gears

Did you then have problems in the high gears, or was this okay?

High gears were fine as the chainline was ok on the smaller size of the cassette. The chain was bent a lot on the lighter gears with quite strong grinding sound which is more profound than usual cog extremes with proper chainline.

It shifted fine upon initial inspection but I did not try to pedal the bike as it was clear the chainline was way too off

my setup of PQ 54T with p505 base.
the ring is on the outer side when i was on 11sp r105 rd + cs11-28, then 12sp rival axs with hg11-36.
i can use the low gear(biggest cog) without significant ketak ketak ketak sound.

frames are tt912 n ttx38

Result: Setup with Pass Quest, Flattop Chain and Ekar Cassette works without issues!
