Hi everyone,
I’m thinking about buying a Shimano 105 Di2 full groupset from AliExpress. It’s quite a bit cheaper than buying it locally here in South Korea. Has anyone here had experience ordering it from AliExpress? Did everything arrive okay, or is it risky?
Sorry if my English isn’t perfect, and thanks in advance for your help!
RE: I ended up ordering the groupset from the Anrancee store on AliExpress. At first, there were some issues when they shipped the goods — the package got blocked at the sorting center, probably because of the battery included in the groupset. The seller was cooperative, though it took him a little time to respond to all my (slightly panicked) questions.
Eventually, they re-sent the package via UPS Express at no extra charge and declared the value as $50, so I didn’t have to pay any customs duties here in Korea. All the parts were genuine, and everything arrived safely in the end. So while there were a few bumps, it worked out well for me.
-
Never had issues. Ordered a 105 2x12 Di2 set from anrancee cycling store (which i find to have some of the best Shimano stuff on aliex) and it arrived in a few weeks, all fine. Have also purchased an Ultegra Di2 set second hand from another dude who got it off AliEx. Definetly legit stuff.
Would be interested to hear if anyone had any bad experiences with this to be frank!
-
i purchased my full 105 12s di2 groupset for about $800 USD. arrived outside of the original packaging to fit in a small box, but it's been functioning as expected and the components seem to be genuine
-
Well that's a real question, how much more expensive is it against Ltwoo, for reference I'm in France, and I can have a 105 DI2 for around 800€, considering it's a full group, with cranks, cassette, chain. Ltwoo on the other hand, offers fewer parts, and still 530€ for an ER9 V3 or 630€ for eRX, how much cheaper is it in reality? And in your opinion what are the pros and cons for each ones ?
-
I've also bought an ultegra di2 from AliX which works absolutely fine. All parts pair up with the Shimano app which implied to me that they are genuine.
In terms of warranty, I would have thought that Shimano would deal with that themselves? What woul dhappen if you bought a groupset from say, Wiggle, in the UK. Who have now gone bust. You'd be in the same situation?
Fingers crossed I don't need to test this assumption

Thank you for your question! South Korea is notorious for its consumerism and Import taxes(Korea Certification Mark). Comparing the groupset bought from AliExpress and one from authorized dealer or a bike shop, the difference is quite significant. The cheapest full shimano 105 2x12 di2 I could find localy would send me back 1,530,000 KRW(which is 1124 USD roughly), and AliExpress one with taxes would be roughly 1,150-1,200,000 KRW. This difference is quite to be concidered because I have to take the bike to the shop beacuse I have no idea of how to build the bike, I'm just knowledgable about the specifications.

I bought the 105 di2 groupset (electronic parts only, without crankset, chain, cassette) from Yiwu Donglue Bicycle Parts for 550 EUR (after coupons) including tax and shipping (to Germany). I received genuine Shimano parts, everything works well including updating the parts to the newest software version. I completed it with a Magene PES 515 crankset, ZTTO full cnc cassette and KMC x12 waxed chain.
This setup was just over 900 EUR and for me is currently the best value for money I could get.
-
It is the 12s 105 di2 groupset that I got, and it included the brake calipers.
With the Magene PES 515 crankset, the ZTTO steel cassette, an KMC waxed chain and some rotors (I prefer the MT-800 as I don't like experimenting with brakes, but there might be cheaper non-Shimano solutions) you have a complete groupset which is almost the same weight as an ultegra di2 groupset yet includes a spider powermeter and is still cheaper compared to a complete ultegra groupset.
I do not have any experience with Ltwoo or other Chinese group sets, but from reading in this forum it appears to me that shimano in 2025 is still the more reliable option.
Warranty is definitely a disadvantage when you get your parts from AliExpress. I never needed the warranty so far, but I would guess that you do not get a replacement in case of an early failure, so that is what you have to accept (and what actually makes not only the group sets but also the frame sets cheaper when you buy them directly from China).
-
1. can you setup alipay?
2. can you do your own forward shipping to china to korea?
if your answer is yes to these 2 question. you can get them at even cheaper prices from taobao or goofish (chinese ebay), plus your taxes are based on what you declared ;)

to answer your question, they are legit and will come without retail boxes. normally for a full groupset they pack it in a 30x30x30cm box with many chinese newspaper inside.
-
That's very interesting, as it becomes an apples to apples comparison with ltwoo er9. So, for 100-200 eur extra, you go from ltwoo to shimano, without having to buy overpriced / heavy cranksets, cassettes, rotors and so on. I assume it included the calipers?
ltwoo has flexibility shimano doesnt have, like changing the number of gears, but shimano is shimano, and you'd have to be on a very tight budget to dismiss this as a good option. And resale value. Simano di2 just sells, and will sell.
did you get 11 or 12s?
The warranty question remains though, idk how i feel about buying shimano parts on aliexpress, in case something goes wrong.
In the USA, officially Shimano requires a purchase through a US dealer and even purchases through Euro channels can be in theory a problem (dealers raised hell a couple years back when Merlin's et al's retail was below US wholesale) but in practice they'll usually warranty out of goodwill. But you can't count on that. I'd be doubly concerned with an ali purchase if I was in the US. Don't have knowledge about UK/Euro.

Hey Bassa80, how did you go with tracking with Yiwu? I just purchased a full Ultegra Di2 groupset, the tracking number they uploaded to Ali shows something completely different (already delivered to Dubai). I messaged them and they just said "the logistic company haven't given me the correct tracking number, please wait ". Cautiously optimistic.

Sorry but where do you find the complete 105 group for €800.00 in France?
On which online site?
In Europe the lowest price is 1050 on online shops in Italy
Thanks for your help!

When I ordered mine they had completely the wrong tracking number, till I got an email from UPS saying I owed some fees, was delivered quite quickly!
-
interesting... I may have to pull the trigger on one these
-
Seller (Yiwu) came through, sent me the correct tracking number. Coming via DHL Express, should arrive on Friday - will report back.
-
Reporting back - came a day early. Look perfect, packaged well in bubblewrap, cardboard and paper to protect everything - no boxes. connected the RD, FD and battery up, registered in Shimano E-Tube app and connected the shifters (wireless). Works!

What seller did you choose to purchase the group set? Was it with the cranks or just the FD, RD, battery, cables and brifters?
-
It was the full groupset including cranks, chain.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_ms298Lp this was the exact listing.

did you have to pay taxes? How much did you spend in total?
-
Approx $1800 AUD, could have gotten it slightly cheaper with new coupons, cashback. No taxes - I did ask them to declare the package value less.

sorry for my late reply, I like the forum but riding my bike is even better.. I think you don't need to worry about the tracking, quite often it does not work until you finally get your items. For me it usually takes 2-3 weeks from order to delivery. Good luck!

Purchased 105di2 without the cranks from anrancee shop during the latest summer sale for $660. Delivered by UniUni without requiring to pay for any tariffs and arrived within 2 weeks.

where are you located? That's a killer deal. Looks like they wont deliver to California
-
I paid $737 for an Ultegra Di2 in February this year, also at the Anrancee shop.

I'm located in New York. Unfortunately, it looks like they stopped shipping out here again.
-
Anyone else not seeing the Di2 listings from anrancee? Just went to check out prices and I can only see old generation mechanical stuff, not event the crankset and cassettes from current gen

Hi!,
bought a dura ace R9270 last month and it arrived probably a week later with minimum tax. Also from Anrancee, with shipping it was $2.300 with tax here in Chile.
I've also bought a lot of Shimano stuff from anrancee over the years. Everything has always been top notch.

Mind sharing what you paid? Was it a complete groupset?
-
I would assume shimano chains on the anrancee shop are safe to buy and genuine? They come out a little cheaper than buying locally for me
-

I think it's the battery that's stopping all these AliExpress sellers from shipping overseas. I just ordered from Yiwu Donglue Bicycle Parts Factory an Ultegra R8100 Di2 groupset but I added all the parts individually (they reduce the shipping a bit if you put them on the same order). And instead, I bought the battery from Incycle on eBay for $124 and they're in California. Also I ordered the Di2 wires from anrancee because Yiwu Donglue didn't have the lengths that I wanted.
Total cost was $1,087 with sales tax for the groupset with 160/140mm CL800 rotors and BBR60 bottom bracket but no crankset. I already have a Magene PES P515 power meter with R8100 chainrings for $395.
-
I ordered Shimano Ultegra 8170 groupset froma anrancee cycling store 2 weeks ago. I've had 2 tracking codes that won't update. They're just created labels no package is ever sent.
The last one I got a week ago it shows in UPS and says package not received.
I even paid for the faster shipping. Does anyone had any similar problems? I've contacted the store and he said he is waiting for reply for more information. It's weird because he has such a good reputation I'd like to believe it's just some mistake.
-
A mechanical 105 groupset I ordered from them on the 23rd July took 2 weeks to be delivered to the UK.

Has your shipping updated? They just created a label for mine but it's only been 5 days since I ordered. Not sure if they will actually ship

I received all my stuff from anrancee and Yiwu Donglue in around 2 weeks to the US. They both used YFH Standard Shipping with a tracking number starting with HRBZ. There was a 10 day gap after "Package collected by carrier" in the AliExpress tracking, but you can use other sites like parcelsapp.com or 17track.net for more detailed tracking.

The initial was YFH and the last mile was UniUni. When I bought some EliteWheels they used some duty paid shipping method from China to the US that I didn't get any tracking for, then a few weeks later it was collected by UPS in California and shipped to me. Maybe they're doing the same for you?
-
I looked into getting an Ultegra Di2 off Ali (Anrancee or Yiwu), but neither can provide duty prepaid shipping to Europe (Germany in this case). Can anyone from Europe maybe chime in how they handled it? Is there another reputable seller who can provide duty prepaid?
I'm new to all this (apart from a Yoeleo Frame which now needs parts), and the only information about tariffs I could find somewhere is a dubious 3 piece limit per month (Whats a piece? A groupset? An STI/Brake Combo? Will extra spokes for a wheelset make it 3+ pieces?) for private buyers over which you have to pay the (I think) about 50% anti-dumping-tariffs. With the honestly declared value and paying VAT + 4,x% normal tariff on bike parts, the savings already aren't huge....
The sellers would obviously play the game of declaring a lower value, I'm just not much of a gambler tbh. And I'm pretty sure that no duty officer would believe a value of 110 Dollars for a whole groupset, even sans crank.
-
I don't know what they did exactly but I paid around 10% of the taxes I should have actually paid (in Austria where they are very strict)
-
Just got my 105 di2 from yiwu donglue. It took a while for the tracking to start showing anything but it took about 1 week to deliver after the package started moving. Everything seems legit enough, not entirely sure about the cassette and chains but the derailleurs are for sure authentic, can’t imagine anyone counterfeiting those.
-
I bought a Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset from cyclegears.net
I strongly recommand it.
-
Below you will find my comment on the purchase of a Shimano 105 Di2 from Yiwu Donglue Bicycle Parts Factory with shipping to Italy:
Original Shimano 105 groupset at a good price, in working order, components well packaged individually.
Shipping method: AliExpress standard shipping, the package took 43 days to arrive in Italy.
After arriving in the Netherlands, the tracking information wasn't updated for over 20 days, and I was worried the package had gotten lost.
In the future, for such large amounts, I will choose an express courier.
The seller wasn't very helpful, but shipping isn't entirely his responsibility.
I only paid €25 in taxes at the Italian post office customs.
I add that the seller declared a total value of 80 dollars, it was printed on the waybill.
Let's just say I sweated until the very end!
-
Wow, thanks a lot for all the answers! This paints a much clearer picture of what is going on there.
Gonna have to have a think on what to do I guess, and whether the (not too big) savings will be worth the anxious wait for me, I can totally feel you Gianpy.
It feels like a different thing for wheels and frames, with the price delta being much higher and duty prepaid giving me peace of mind there (whether that's entirely justified or not..)
But yeah, thanks alot :) Still very new to this, still learning.
-
For the complete 105 Di2 groupset, I paid around €700.00, using coupons and the Aliexpress tax discount.
In Europe, I couldn't find it for less than €950/1000.
But I spent 40 days in agony; I'd never spent so much on Aliexpress!
And I don't even want to think about the warranty in case of malfunctions...
Not sure if I'd do it again. :-\

I think for less than 50% retail, you can be your own warranty :) That's my plan anyways.
-
Just ordered the 105 di2 groupset minus crankset/rotors/chain.
£450 delivered to the uk.
-
I'd be very worried about that price when a full group set is £700 from a legit supplier like Anrancee and the missing parts are worth £100. I decided the risk/reward ratio for Di2 wasn't worth it from China so just went with mechanical 105 for £300.
-
That was including an ae coupon £95, store coupon £60 off, plus some amount got taken off for tax, which i will have to pay at this end.
-
Just updating on my order from Anrancee. It was shipped very late but arrived in 3 weeks to Finland. I paid for the faster shipping Aliexpress standard instead of Cainio heavy parcel line. Declared 100€ value and it was sent by UPS express saver and it didn't even stop at customs so no extra cost. All is working well.

You might get lucky with the tax but if not that's 20% extra for VAT plus whatever charges the courier imposes for collecting it.
-
They typically declare a low value for tax purposes though. Ordered some grx shifters from anrancee at a cost of about 350 dollars, which got stopped by customs. They gave me an extra 12 dollar bill on a 30 dollar declared value slip. That would mean i paid a percentage of the 30 with the stupid handling fees on top.
-
My recent 105 groupset from Anrancee seems to have got through without any customs fees at all to the UK but I'd budgeted for it to potentially cost ~25% more to effectively compare prices.
-
Looks like anrancee and other Ali sellers stopped shipping to the US as of today.. My anrancee order from a week or so ago has shipped but is still in China. Unsure if it will make it over here due to the de minimus removal. Will follow up in this thread.
-
Just bought a Shimano r7170 minigroupset from Yiwu donglue on aliexpress (same sellers as anrancee I believe?) for ~$600 USD shipped to Canada. Anyway, they said that the di2 battery cant be shipped with Aliexpress standard, so they are shipping with UPS instead.
Will update once I recieve it! :)
-
I have just bought a Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset from cyclegears.net
This is my second order from this website. Still very well protected et quick shipping. Prepaid taxes.
I strongly recommand it again.

Their site's shipping policy page (https://cyclegears.net/policies/shipping-policy) seems to imply they don't do prepaid taxes, what gives?
-
I’m curious whether warranty would hold up if purchasing from cyclegears? If not, it may be better to buy from Xianyu to save 20-30%.
-
I am also interested in warranty issues. Latelly I had many with current Ultegra and GRX Di2.
Would local Shimano in your country (in EU) allow repair under warranty for their group bought from Asia?
-
That was my first question on the 1st page of the thread. I dont think anyone has actually tried, but i suspect that no, shimano EU would not recognize your products. Shimano in Asia is known to be much cheaper, which makes Shimano in EU openly price gouging (maybe even worse in the US, isk). I can't see Shimano recognizing grey market products bought out of Asia from random sellers on aliexpress. It would go against their own interests, bike shops networks, European retailers and so on.
At the very least, this would be my assumption if i bought Shimano stuff from Alix. Becomes an actuarial calculation whether you'd rather pay more and (hope to) be covered by your LBS if something happens, or pay less upfront and hope nothing breaks.
I'm somewhat surprised Shimano doesn't geo-lock or require a local distributor/retailer to activate Di2 componentry when they're connected to the e-tube app to prevent OEM product being sold consumer direct.
-
For those doubting to pull the trigger, based on this sub I decided to get both an ultegra Di2 (without crank) and a full 105 Di2 from anrancee store on aliX (to the Netherlands) closing in in about 1650 eu total. Everything went smoothly but was nerve wrecking. As other had noted the store contacted me saying that the declared value would be set to 110 EU. After this a tracking was provided on aliX which did not update up until 2-3 before delivery. At delivery I had to pay approx. 40 EU additionally for import and taxes which was about 1/10th of that what I expected, should I needed to pay it in full. Overall the experience was good once things got rolling. Packaging was superb, everything was individually wrapped in paper and bubbles. Now the long wait for the frame starts
-
Their site's shipping policy page (https://cyclegears.net/policies/shipping-policy) seems to imply they don't do prepaid taxes, what gives?
I asked them before ordering my first groupset and they said that it was prepaid taxes for my country (in Europe).
And it was the case for both orders.
-
As for the questions of warranty. I made another post on here. TLDR your only recourse is whatever buyer protection Aliexpress has.
I had a motor dead on my RD within a week and they gave me the run around, visit bike shop for quote, do that 3 more times, check about mailing it to China… ended up taking the pity refund aliexpress gave me for avoiding returning the entire groupset which just about covered a new one
Seller was yiwu donglue
-
Looping back, I received my order to the US without paying additional tariffs, so the higher shipping cost was to cover prepaid taxes, as someone already mentioned. I got the newly released Shimano RC503 shoes for quite a bit cheaper than US MSRP. Re: Shimano warranty discussion , maybe it's best to only buy wear items like shoes or non-electronic parts like cassettes.

Any vendor for SRAM? De we see comparable price difference?

Hi guys - full disclosue Im new to the forum, and reading this particular thread with interest - as I'm potentially taking first step in ordering shimano groupset/components from AliX.... So hoping to get answer to a couple queries...
1. Is it confirmed that sellers like Anrancee and Yiwu Donglue do supply 100% GENUINE Shimano components - or are posts saying components work fine and connect up via etube app only suggesting they 'appear' to be genuine? Just I think Ive seen other post/chat somewhere saying that some of the fake copies/clones of components are so good that they've even got then linking up to etube app - though not sure if that was just scaremongering to deter people from buying shimano (and other branded components) off AliX etc.
2. For anyone who's purchased full of mini groupset components delivered to UK (from Anrancee/Yiwu Donglue or a.n.other trusted seller) - what import tax was applied if any - as this thread seems to suggest its very hit and miss as to what import tax if any is applied. The discounts on shimano groupsets from reputable UK online retailers is very good already with most site offering 40-50% off RRP - so the AliX prices arent much cheaper, esp with the unknown additional import tax if that is nlikely to be added?? But the issue with the groupset deals is that they come as 'packages' - so it isnt easy or no option to customise the individual components, eg different crankset/chainring sizes, with/without rotors, chain, cassette etc. So this is where AliX would be good option as seems like I would be able to pick and chose specific spec of components for groupset build.
Anyway if anyone can shed light on the above it would be v helpful..... cheers
-
nobody is faking groupset parts, that's waaaaay too difficult, just not possible. Especially not so well they work with official shimano software.

cant find the post re fake components connecting to etube - but def think others have commented on the existence of fake groupset components in cirrculation on AliX - eg from this well known vlogger here :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhZV7R44W5s
and that youtube is few years old now!.. Hence why I was asking for reputable/trusted sellers of genuine shimano parts. If Anrancee/Yiwu Donglue are known as trusted then happy not to take a risk on others...

I'll tell you for damn sure that if a Chinese brand can recreate Shimano 105 DI2 and above quality, they'd have their own brands.
Oh wait... LT-WOO.

cant find the post re fake components connecting to etube - but def think others have commented on the existence of fake groupset components in cirrculation on AliX - eg from this well known vlogger here :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhZV7R44W5s
and that youtube is few years old now!.. Hence why I was asking for reputable/trusted sellers of genuine shimano parts. If Anrancee/Yiwu Donglue are known as trusted then happy not to take a risk on others...
Yeah DurianRider is definitely a trusted source for sure. Not a lying, misogynistic piece of shit for sure.
The only fakes you'll find are chains, pedals, and rim brake calipers.

Perhaps someone can help. Ordering at Anrancee/Yiwu Donglue a 105 or Ultegra Groupeset! At Checkout i get a 150$ Discount from ALIX for later Taxes in Germany! what are youre experiences with taxes in germany at ordering a groupeset! Is it allready prepaid as Anrancee/Yiwu Donglue are claiming? Or does i need to pay later? Or just luck because goods are declared below 150€?
-
I have a friend who ordered Ultegra groupset to Poland latley from anrancee. They declared 100 USD but still customs catch this package and he paid customs, taxes and antydumping tax. So it's matter of luck if customs will catch that.

Like I posted before, I did not pay all that much (to the Netherlands), but I have come to realise it is a bit hit or miss if customs will check your package or not, and the consequences can result in you paying a hell of a lot more money than you would save. Would I do it again? Probably, but there is a risk.
-
Good point.
I think it's worth asking the seller to declare a legitimate sounding value on the box. At the end of the day, OEM pricing should be a fraction of retail, so even if customs see it's shimano stuff, maybe if it says $320 on the box, then customs would charge you VAT on it, and voila.
I actually do now know what anti dumping rules are, but if customs are meant to charge VAT on legitimately priced parcels, then it's a question of declaring a value that's high enough to be defensible. $100 for a shimano groupset is obviously just asking for trouble.
This doesn't work anyway. Customs will ask you first how much you paid and it's needed to send payment confirmation.

thanks for our answers!
what are typicall good prices for groupsets?i'm looking for 2 weeks now:
105: without crankset was aroung ~810$ / with crankset ~900$
ultegra: without crankset 1100-1200$ (today990$)/with crankset 1300$-1400$
Does it fluctuate a lot? I'm not under any time pressure and could wait if there are huge discounts!
Of course, there's currently a $70 discount with code.

1400 eur on bikediscount = 1640usd. after coupons you get ~1300usd that's a nice discount i would be willing to gamble on aliexpress personally. you can also get the groupset without crankset and brake calipers for under 900 too
-
Ali if you are ok to wait for 11/11 you can have further discount with coupons and points potentially.

I ordered from Anrancee as well. Shimano Ultegra 8170 about $1600, waited for coupon deal which was $-110 and the Rakuten 25% cash back. So paid about $789 USD + $15 duty. Put it together connected to E-tube and everything works well. Have put 500 km on it and no problems at all.
-
What is rakuten discount
-
Rakuten is a shopping rewards company. You install their browser extension, allowing you to get discounts when you shop at certain sites. You will save tons of money, making you rich beyond belief. In return, the extension will syphon the entirety of your private data, which Rakuten will sell to anyone who is interested, including your current employer, who will not give you a promotion on the grounds that you have a weird fetish for skin-tight clothing. You will remain eternally impoverished.

Sounds like a marriage :D

Guys maybe a question for you: After my Wheeltop EDS TX makes early problems i wanted to look for some DI2 components and found a set R8150/R8170 used for 470e. The account looks good (12 year old account which was used normally) and is rated very positively by other peers. Is it too good to be true or is it a realistic price for slightly used stuff?
yeah no. i guess it was a fake. Marketplace shut the account down. :D
-
Just bought a Shimano r7170 minigroupset from Yiwu donglue on aliexpress (same sellers as anrancee I believe?) for ~$600 USD shipped to Canada. Anyway, they said that the di2 battery cant be shipped with Aliexpress standard, so they are shipping with UPS instead.
Will update once I recieve it! :)
FYI, I am getting a $30 duty charge with UPS (I seem to always get duty charges wtih UPS or DHL :().
Will get the groupset soon! Photos to come :)

I got the same thing BUT this is a very very VERY low cost to pay with UPS shipping on a $1000+ item. I dont even want to know how this is declared lol :)
-
Got the groupset! R7170 mini groupset from Yiwu Donglue on Aliexpress for about $700 USD all in (including the ~$30 in UPS duties).
The box was pretty beat-up but no visible damage to the components. Everything looks brand new. Paired up with the Shimano E-Tube app easily and upgraded the firmware without issues. Im happy :)

What country was that shipped to for the $30? Great deal. Which crankset and chainrings are you planning to use?
-
Shimano finally got rid of the junction cable box connected to the shifters? How does it work? When did it happen? Shimano used to be outside of the price ranges i was looking at, but with these AliExpress sellers selling exactly the bits I'd want to buy at competitive priced, I need to get up to speed.
Yes - ERX copies the Shimano 12 speed design. All Shimano 12 speed groupsets (Dura Ace R9200, Ultegra R8100, 105 R7100) use this design - no more junction boxes, just cables from battery to derailleurs, and shifters are wireless. Makes the install process substantially easier than 11 speed sets.
Main tradeoffs with 105 are that you get the older style front derailleur - Ultegra and Dura Ace use a newer, sleeker design; 105 doesn't have the bonus buttons on top of the shifters; the braking doesn't use the servo wave technology (doubt this is noticeable for most); and the cassette doesn't use Hyperglide+. 105 derailleur can (officially) take a max 11-36 cassette, Ultegra/DA can only (officially) take 11-34 (but of course it will work anyway).
-
So, shipping was $51 USD to Canada, but I also got charged ~$21 USD in duties. Using the Magene P515 crank with R7100 chainrings.
Perfect. Exactly what I was thinking. P515 with r7100 chainrings. Thanks man.
-
Do you have any recommended cassettes to share? I was planning on just using the 105 cassette for the Hyperglide + shifting, but if there are alternatives that are better and cheaper...im interested!
Hyperglide + is only on Ultegra and Dura-ace 12s cassettes.
-
Hyperglide + is only on Ultegra and Dura-ace 12s cassettes.
So you are saying a Ultegra HG + will not work with 105 derailleurs? Thanks for your info.
-
The hyperglide + technology is on Ultegra / Dura-Ace cassettes and chains not derailleurs. 105 cassette has the normal hyperglide from 11s.
-
I’m planning to buy either 105 or Ultegra di2 for my build, and I find prices on Ali express really tempting. However I don’t usually shop on Ali so I don’t know what to expect for 11/11, do you think the prices will be even lower for said groupsets? Thank you.
-
Yes, discount codes will also be better than atm

Expect 15-20% discount on coupon alone
-
Gave this a shot with Yiwu Donglue on Ali. <800€ total for Ultegra with an 11-34 cassette and no crankset or brake rotors. Shipping to Germany was via UPS and import fees were like 30€. Seeing as the equivalent from bike-discount is like 1250€, I think this is a pretty sweet deal.
-
So you are saying a Ultegra HG + will not work with 105 derailleurs? Thanks for your info.
so slap an ultegra cassette + chain on a 105 and you have an HG+
-
Yiwu Donglue doesn’t seem to have many groupset offers at the moment, right?
Could you please send me the link? I can’t find it on AliExpress.
What do you think about the vendors “Alain Bike Store”, “Tonlen Bike Store”, or “Xinyu Outdoor Cycling Store”?
Tonlen and Xinyu both have decent deals on Ultegra, but they don’t seem particularly reputable. Do you have any experience with them?
Tonlen: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006347700013.html
Xinyu: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005007817179250.html
I’m thinking of getting either the 105 or Ultegra Di2 groupset, along with the Magene TEO P515, for a new build.
Cheers

Thanks so much!
I don’t get it… Even when I go to the Yiwu Donglue Bicycle Parts Factory store page, this product doesn’t show up for me. I’ve checked “All Products” and all the other tabs.
Even when I search for Shimano Ultegra Di2 or similar, I can’t find it on AliExpress — only through the direct link.
So annoying! Makes me wonder what other great deals I might be missing out on...

They main or ship to US

Same. Several thousand miles later all is still good/great!!

Just ordered full Ultegra Di2 groupset for 960 EUR from Yiwu Donglue. I think this is a great price comparing to EU market.
Ill see if i have to pay additional custom when it gets here. Price between this and 105 is so close so no point in getting 105 and buying aftermarket cranks to make it lighter.
Frame is on the way so I didnt want to wait for 11/11 ;D
-
I purchased three Di2 groups (2x Ultegra R8100 and 1x 105 R7100). They all worked pretty well ! I get all of them from Yiwu when they are discounted and honestly compared to the North America market, the prices I paid are ridiculous.
Talking about if they are genuine or not, I could set them up and pair all the components on the Shimano app and I could even do the updates offer in the app.
-
Bought a 105 di2 group without the cranks from anrancee , after coupons, discount and a small import tax it came to about 580EUR delivered to the EU. If i'd cheaped out on the delivery i could have saved about 20 euros more.
The best price i have seen for a similar group is about 850 EUR + delivery.
Haven't mount it yet on a bike but it seems fine, all paired ok. I'm surprised the chain seems to be genuine (SLX/105), i was sure i was going to get a fake one.
On my package they declared the value at 100 or 150 EUR, but if customs smells something is wrong you could pay more in tax.
-
nice, I checked there alix page, for france price is 720 + 70eur delivery.
Without crankset, but included chain and cassette.
Which country did you get it delivered to, to get such a price?
-
I'm from Romania, but i think the price is similar for all the EU. Press "buy now" on the product page and you should get a price correction (eliminating VAT) and the attached message beside it . After you apply a coupon you should get around what i paid for it. I tried applying one coupon from here and it didn't work, so you might have to wait for the frequent sales on AliX to get a deal
As others stated in this thread, you are buying from a grey market (probably the parts are destined for OEMs) and you should have very little expectations regarding any warranty later on.
-
Hello guys,
I ordered from Yiwu Donglue Bicycle Parts Factory store.
Everything went smoothly - communication with the store was good. They shipped my order with DHL to Montenegro, and I ended up paying taxes as expected. Installation on the bike went well, and I updated the group via the app without any problems. It seems to be genuine stuff and works perfectly. 8) ;) :)

Hi,

Right lever from my 8170 groupset started acting up, bought from Anrancee. Even with almost full battery it stops working, once it complained low battery mostly just suddenly is dead.
It's happening more and more often almost daily.
Changing battery revives it but then weirdly the old battery works again too. So it's some kind of software or contact issue.
Posted the problem on multiple forums no one knows why. Firmware up to date, no stuck buttons. Taken the wires off battery and put back nothing helps.
Probably have to wire the shifters. Contacted Anrancee if he could refund at least the amount it costs me to wire them as the groupset is almost unusable. Has anyone gone through any warranty things with these groupsets?
-
I'd be taking it along to your local Shimano service centre for them to have a look at and not mentioning where you bought it.
-
After a long chat Anrancee will refund 18 euros. For a lever that doesn't work. I guess that what you get for a cheap price you just have to hope you don't run into problems.

I received my Ultegra groupset from Yiwu Donglue today! Everything came nicely packaged and everything is genuine and working perfectl!
I paid 960 EUR for complete groupset but without disc rotors. I had to pay additional 36 EUR for customs and duties when it arived in EU. This is significantly cheaper than current offers in EU stores so it’s worth taking into consideration when buying. However if I was charged with full import duties it would be on par with offers you can find here. So depending on your risk appetite this is worth a shot.

Your description in the former post ... did you try opening the battery storage and dry it with a hair drier.. and let it dry for a couple of days? It sounds like a water problem.
My Powermeter hat exactly the same issue and i was lucky that drying could recover the system. Even the "empty" battery was then on 85% .
I have already seen some water problems at the 12x Di2 at Instagram. Seems like they either tried a new design or simply were saving money in the wrong spot.

Yes I opened it and let it dry for about 24 hours no change. I wired the shifters they work fine now. But the 3rd port in the di2 battery didn't snap the cable in so it was not secure. It always disconnected when I inserted it to the frame. I had to swap the battery from my 2nd bike where I need only 2 wires. I won't even bother contacting Anrancee about it.

Doesn't sound good
But try it again and let it dry several days. Plastic materials bed up to a week to dry out.

Did you guys find any good offers for the 11/11 sale? I had a look but there was not much price difference... . At least there will be the codes. Just checking because in the past I was not able to find all the offers with the search function.
-
Di2 prices seem to be higher even for 11/11 than they were a few weeks ago. Coupons slightly better. Interesting.
-
I am noticing that the price difference between buying on AliExpress and locally (in the UK) is not so much! I only just started shopping for an Ultegra 12 speed Di2 full groupset, and I do not know what prices were like earlier this year.
I can buy for 1057GBP +35GBP shipping from anrancee and risk additional customs tax. Compare this to local UK price of 1175GBP with free shipping and no added tax.
-

And most importantly, there is high risk, that you will not be able to solve potential warranty case locally, if you buy from AliExpress.

For me, the prices are really good in the Anrancee Store. I’m based in Switzerland, and the Shimano R8170 ULTEGRA Di2 Electronic Part (upgrade kit) costs 800 CHF / 992 USD including shipping (without coupons). With coupons, I can save another 98 CHF, so the total comes to around 700 CHF / 868 USD for the Shimano R8170 ULTEGRA Di2 upgrade kit.
The Shimano 105 R7170 Electronic Part Groupset (FD R7150) comes to about 520 CHF / 645 USD in total.
That’s roughly 200–400 CHF cheaper than buying it here or from Germany.
I contacted Anrancee support, and they confirmed that they can adjust the declared value on the parcel for me, so I’ll have no import tax or a very low one. Support was really helpful and made the items for me available to order from Switzerland. Beforehand I couldn't find the groupsets because shipping to Switzerland was not available and I was only able to see them over the direct link.
However, I agree with what others have said — if you have any issues with the groupset, you probably won’t be able to claim warranty, which is the major downside.

No, only olive inside the lever. Check twice if you have them already installed before installing twice olives.
This is the right model. You csn buy them on Aliexpress (no problem for me but IIRC, some people had some problèmes).

olives are already pre installed, but I had to buy the pin, as they were not coming with the groupset, the ref. is H90.
Here you will have the installation manual, just look after your groupset and all will be explain.

Has anyone bought an ultegra chain on ali? Just a chain not a full groupset. I know it's full of fakes but does someone have a good experience (with competitive price?)

As long as you buy from a reputable store (like anrancee) you should not have any problem.

I bought an 105 group from anrancee and the chain seem to be genuine. I'm not 100% sure as i dont have another SLX chain to compare it to.
As i sidenote why not buy the chain from an established retailer? In this case im not sure the price diference is worth the risk of buying from Alix and chains are probably the easiest main component to fake

At least here in Chile It's much more expensive to buy from retailers (just one company has the representation of shimano), plus the availabilty ain't the best.

I was in chile a couple of weeks ago, I was impressed by the number of people biking especially in Santiago and in the cajon de maipo Valley!
You guys have such a beautiful country and people are so welcoming!

My Ultegra Di2 just arrived today, bought on AliExpress. The shifters don’t turn on at all — I even replaced the batteries just to be sure. I’m starting to suspect these might not be the wireless ST-R8170 levers they were advertised as. The internal mechanism also looks different, more like a mechanical unit. If anyone has experience with this or can tell me more from the photos, I’d appreciate it. I’m also open to any tricks or checks I might try to get them working.
-
Should be an LED. If you push both buttons on the lever for a few seconds does the LED turn green?

yes the right turn green you are right! the left seems dead, but it is already something. did not about the both buttons. thank you

You can try to connect the leaver to the main battery using the wires provided. That way you can at least tell if there is a problem with the CR batteries/connectors or with the leaver itself.

yes using the wires it works, as I have also changed the CR batteries I think the problem is in the connection between the CR batteries. There is a problem but at least is not a fake useless...thank you

Has anyone bought an ultegra chain on ali? Just a chain not a full groupset. I know it's full of fakes but does someone have a good experience (with competitive price?)
I always buy from Amazon and watch this video before opening the cellophane wrapper.

In the description, is it the R8170 levers or 8150 ? Normally, you should have QR code on R8170 to pair with the apps.

I got this for my last build https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005005766195381.html (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3zMjjCJ) no issue at all after 1+ year and all original
-
anyone ordered a groupset from ali recently?
after reading through this thread, I guess the best option is to pay slightly more shipping fee for UPS express saver method so they handle customs for you..?
also wondering if there are any bigger alix sales expected to come before black friday.

I upgraded my 105 with Ultegra RD/FD already running Ultegra cassette and chain.
IMO it feels a lot nicer than the 105 but apparently that's a placebo. (My issue with 105 was I constantly had to re adjust FD and it's a breeze to setup through etube since no H/L limit screws had the whole upgrade done in 20mins?)
it was ~$300 AUD cheaper than local so couldn't help it.

The R7150 RD+FD shifts exactly the same as R8150. The motors are the same.

Not true, FD is different (105 FD is like Ultegra / Dura Ace 11s), you can even see it in the app where the adjustment process is different
-
The R7150 RD+FD shifts exactly the same as R8150. The motors are the same.
nope. FD is completely reworked on r8100
RD is also one of the biggest weight loss parts on ultegra
-
The R7150 RD+FD shifts exactly the same as R8150. The motors are the same.
That is incorrect, completely different and physically smaller plus faster shifting.
However an R7150 FD is basically an R8050 FD.

The actual actuation speed and power of the RD shift motor are functionally identical. Absolutely no reason to change a RD7150 for a RD8150

I can say as the owner of bikes with R8100, R7100 and indeed R9200 that the front mechs on R7100 are not the same (R8100 and R9200 essentially are). R7100 is the older design, same as R9100 or R8000 and larger, heavier, slower.
As to whether you notice any of this on the road I would have my doubts - I can't - but you certainly can on the mech stand side by side.
FWIW the only improvement Ultegra brings over 105 that I really miss is the bonus buttons on the shifters.
-
Whats the best time to grab some groupset from Aliexpress?
Need one for my new Lightcarbon Frame thats will arrive in 2-3 Months. Want to order an 105 DI2 Groupset.

what is the perfect balance between weight/cost/function in the 11 speed di2 groupset (105/Ultegra/DA)?
It seems that the Ultegra shifter are identical to DA (button/reach) and you can save 20g with titanium aftermarket brackets.
The from mech seems to be DA/ultegra identical
The rear mech are internally identical DA/Ultegra (motor/gear) but the 50g difference?

Probably full 105 with Ultegra FD and aftermarket crankset/cassette

Mostly agreed. Personally I would also ditch shimano rotors as a priority.
Also worth noting: the old ultegra/new 105 FD is apparently more outwards, meaning despite being bulkier it can fit larger rear tires if it's a limitation

12 speed maybe? I went for Ultegra derailleurs (better shifting and substantially less weight) and 105 levers+brakes (no benefits apart from hood buttons). As for the rest, aftermarket cranks and rotors are better than what you get from a full groupset. Dura ace chain (fastest) and cassette is a go to if you prefer hot waxing.

The 12 speed rear derailleur 105 gives the same shifting performance as the ultegra.
-
My take on this.
Rear mech - 105 same as ultegra for shifting
Front mech - Ultegra superior
Shifters - 105 perfect unless you need the buttons for some reason
Casette and chain - ultegra makes sense (way superior shifting over 3rd party)
Chainrings - ultegra (way superior shifting over 3rd party)
Cranks - ultegra or QUALITY carbon
However, if I were buying from zero.............. 100% all ultegra.
-
If you need 11-36 cassette 105 rd works better than Ultegra. 12s is picky about the b screw distance.
And if you care about weight Ultegra rd + Dura-ace cage is not far from full Dura-ace weight and fraction of the price.

Insightful discussion.
Anyone have experience with 12sp connex chains on Ultegra components? they come pre waxed with their chain link which I will use anyways, so it's the cheapest option for waxing.
Anyways, I'm still curious about ordering the groupset from aliexpress.
I contacted anrancee store and they say
The kits shipped to the European Union have YFH shipping method, which is DDP transportation.
I guess what this means is they declare lower value and technically the shipping you pay (40-60€) covers customs for that.
I'm led to assume that YFH shipping (which I think is just standard carrier for the respective country..?) still has a higher chance of being sent to your local customs office where you will have to pick it up and show proof of purchase...
I guess by going with UPS Express there's less chance of complications, since UPS will handle the fees and then bill you afterwards..?

In my case I bought two full groupsets from Anrancee and in both cases there was a very small amount to pay UPS upon delivery. This is to Canada.

how much did you have to pay? I’m gonna make an order soon as well and would like to know what I should expect to pay for duties.

I've heard connex chains don't have great shifting. The links are great though. You buy Shimano groupset to get great shifting I wouldn't compromise it using a non optimal chain which is the cheapest component anyway.

I bought a 105 groupset and an Ultegra groupset, both Di2, from the Anrancee store, with YFH Shipping. I didn’t have to pay anything when it arrived. The shipping method is similar to DPD. I bought them from Spain, and I’m really happy with this store and their service.

I ended up ordering from Yiwu Donglue since they have the entire groupset without rotors. UPS express saver shipping for faster shipping.
will update how it goes

I just had most of groupset to Canada (FD, RD, 2 chains, calipers, battery, cables) delivered by Canada Post. No duties or taxes when it arrived.
FIY, I found if I wait for good sales, you can buy the groupset parts separate and have more savings. That may also help drop the total value or shipping option, to avoid tax/duties.

nice did you order from Yiwu or Anrancee?

Anrancee for the parts listed above and some other smaller orders. DG Riding Bike Store for the shifters. All orders have had no tax.
Only thing I would caution is DG Riding Bike Store. The title and description clearly state shifters and calipers. Order arrived with no calipers. They would not do anything about it. "The picture only shows shifter" was their defense, regardless of what the title and listing clearly stated. Went to return the shifters but got a discount offer from Ali X that covered 2/3 of the caliper cost.
Only time I have paid tax with Ali Express, was a set of elite wheels shipped with Canada Post.

Cool thanks!

Just bought a M8250 upgrade kit for 350€ from anrancee including duty free shrimping, will report once it arrives (current best price in EU is around 500€)

I have bought from Anranceee and DG Riding buying complete 105 Mechanical and Ultegra 8150 Di2 groupset. Zero issue with either.

What have your all in costs been, and to what region?
I'm finding it hard to stomach the prices shown on Ali for these groups.

Purchased both during sales with coupons.
105 mechanical was $485 usd all in
Di2 Ultegra was $1030 all in with no chainrings. Price on the 8170 system does seem to be up about $150 or so.
All of this was to Southern USA.

How do you get duty free shipping? Or do you mean you pay duties when it arrives? I'll need that upgrade kit too at some point.

I found ordering in batches maximizes the applicable discounts, even when shipping is calculated in. Generally the total groupset cost is well beyond the threshold to hit the top discount. Prices in CAD but regardless of currency, there should be savings. Prices used are what I would have paid for the mini group set versus what I actually paid. Plus you can then spread the cost out over time. A little easier to stomach?
At least for me in Canada, I cannot get a mini groupset here. I would have to buy a full groupset and is way more expensive. Note the only difference is I went with 105 calipers because everything I could find points to no real difference fromUltegra.

You mean that you found it cheaper to order individual groupset bits from these sellers, instead of buying the mini groupset as one item, right? Kind of crazy that the shifters cost 600$. Shimano di2 is so wildly overpriced. And yet ltwoo sucks so much ass that it's only a matter of time until i switch to shimano...
Thx for sharing the xls.

Correct ordering the parts individually. But make sure you try to group the items from the same seller when/where possible while. There are some discounts on shipping when you bundle from the same seller, since they can box parts together. The shifters were DG Riding and the rest was Anrancee. At face value, ordering individually is more expensive. However when being able to use more coupons, the discounts lead to more savings.

will update how it goes
The Ultegra Di2 groupset arrived today. The set is complete as far as I can tell. No rotors of course.
Oh, and it came with the external cables (EW-SD300) instead of the internal version with the anti rattle stuff (EW-SD300-I) as pictured. Doesn't matter to me. I will use foam lining anyway.
Everything appears to be genuine. On first connection attempt I got a 'battery low'-error. After charging, I was able to connect via app, registered the shifters and everything works fine. Haven't updated the RD firmware yet. I figured I'll continue to let it charge first to prevent any issues.
Timeline
- 27th August: Order placed
- 31st August: Label created
- 2nd September: Package handed to UPS
- 3rd September: Arrived in Germany, Duties charges via UPS
- 4th September: Delivered
So from order placed to delivery it took exactly 8 days with the longest time being the seller preparing the package for shipment.
UPS charged me an additional ~21€.

That's potentially amazing. Would you mind confirming exactly what the "group" you re buying includes? I would consider dealing via whatsapp w them directly and ordering that way, like i do with many Chinese sellers by now.
$755 all in is 655 EUR. That's very competitive.
Edit. as per redpx response, the group includes shifters, FD RD battery cables crankset & cassette. Which makes that price almost in line with ltwoo electronic, at which point it would be criminal to order ltwoo...
Please let us know if the ultegra shifter swapperoo is an option, because that would be perfection.
-
Sure
I was ordering this set. So all in for 755USD.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_Exln5xC (https://a.aliexpress.com/_Exln5xC)
I also ask him to change the shifters for the ultegra ones. He say it’s possible but I am waiting on reply for the price.
Edit❗️
I was able to configure everything exactly the way I wanted. I also added the two CL-800 brake rotors and the Ultegra shifters. The total came to $892, which I think is a really good deal.
My order is:
1. R7100 Crankset 170 mm, 50-34T
2. R7100 Cassette 11-36T
3. ST-R8170 + BR-R7170 with L05A pads
4. CN-M7100 Chain
5. RD-R7150 Rear Derailleur
6. FD-R7150 Front Derailleur
7. Di2 BT-DN300 Battery
8. Di2 Charging Cable EW-EC300
9. 2× Di2 Electric Wire EW-SD300
10. TL-EW300 Tool
11. 2× CL800 160 mm Brake Rotors
Really happy with the setup, especially considering what’s included.
