Title: LCFS 958 STILL WORTH IT in 2025??

i am coming from a gen 5 trek fuel ex which serves me well. with 150mm lyrik front.

but i am in love with the 958 frame for the looks ;D. but enough info here about it - and most of it is old. and i would like to know how it really is.

this bike is supposed to be my do it all trail bike. Up & down . singeletrack rides 30-40 km , not too aggressive , i dont want an enduro bike. climbing is important.

I have a down country xc carbon hardtail as well for pure XC.

i am a classic M size 174 cm.  if anyone is selling his frame hit me up as well )

I would appriciate any help and insight

I had this frame and I actually loved it.  I did a few 24hr XC races on it as it was a bit more comfortable that a pure race bike.  weight was good and personally I liked that the geometry was a little more XC than trail.  only reason I sold it was I moved from a 100mm to 120mm xc bike and now have a 150mm trail bike that is very light.  I just could not justify having a 140/130mm bike as well.  It does climb well and it looks awesome.  I love the little triangle as it is perfect for a wolf tooth roll top bag.  I liked that I could put some lighter wheels and tires on and have a very comfortable XC bike and then some heavier tires and have a great light enduro bike.  it really made for a great single bike quiver.

thank you! as for the geo bein more XCish , how did it handle the downhills?



i am right there in the border lines between xc trail and light enduro. i do not race though. and i do have an xc hardtail.

i was thinking to put a 150 mm fork on it, carbon wheels and some conti cross king as tires go.

I did not find it too XC oriented.  I actually was very impressed with how well it handled the chunky stuff.  with a 150mm fork you will slacken the HA even more than the 67 deg. that is has normally.  So this should make it even more down hill oriented. 

the more I am talking about this frame, the more I want to have mine back.  hahaha.  that new fox 36 SL would be such a sweet setup for this frame.
