Post by: tiago on October 06, 2025, 08:41:08 AM
Hi, I'm thinking about buying the ZRACE XG and XG4 brake calipers, anyone who has already used them?, feedback?

What is the best gravel/road lever option for these brakes?

From my experience the XG calipers need ceramic pistons for optimal performance. Supposedly new stock have ceramic (old version had alloy). I'm using the XG calipers with a Heppe ceramic piston upgrade. I use them here in the mountains in California and they handle the the steep descents just fine. I paired them both with Ultegra hydraulic shifters and currently with Wheeltop GeX shifters.

No experience with the XG4 calipers. They should brake better, but the XG 2-piston calipers are easier to service since they share piston/o-ring specs with Shimano hydraulic calipers (same piston sizes). Spare parts are plentiful.
