Hey,
just found the AcrRayo powermeters on AliExpress — there are some good deals from the 318Bike Store right now. I couldn’t find many reviews about them on the forum or elsewhere. Has anyone got more info or maybe ordered/tested them already?
Here are the links:

Cheers
Edit: OK, fuck it — I just pulled the trigger and decided to build a new bike. First part ordered!
Got the ZRACE UNCHAINED Power Meter + Crankset 165mm (Link 2) for 220 CHF (~275 USD). That’s half the price of the Magene TEO P515 and “only” about 60 g heavier.
I really hope I didn’t miss anything and won’t regret this decision — definitely a 100% impulse buy.

Chinese components are so crazy. I swear that's the original Magene P505 stand-alone power meter before Magene released their own P505/515 proprietary PM interface + crankset. Though the ArcRayo crankset changed the magnetic charging port from the 2 prong / 2 magnets on the original Magene, to the ArcRayo 1 port /1 circular magnet charging cable.
The 2 prong charging cable works with both Magene power meters and Wheeltop electronic groupsets. The Arco 1 prong cable (appears) to be compatible with the V1 LTwoo eR9/X/GR groupsets (V3 eR9/X V2 eGR removed magnetic charging).
Is the ArcRayo PM just a backwards engineered Magene PM or is it Magene rebadging their old design for ZRace? ::)

Isn’t there a story that arcrayo are ex Magen guys?

So they just changed the charging port to differentiate their PMs enough from Magene hardware? ;D
I wonder if all these bike manufacturers are on good terms or if it's a dog-eat-dog scenario where no one's IP is safe? ;D

Call me a fanboy but I wouldn't trust a powermeter if it was not tested by GPLama or DCrainmaker :D

A spider is the simplest way to make a bike power meter. Those charging ports are standard parts they can just get from a supplier.

Magene kept selling that same spider-only PM, I think until about the time they launched the 515. It's a nice design because it can take so many different chainrings. IIRC, the Magene version was quite a bit more expensive than the 505, but this looks like a pretty good deal.
Edit: Looks like this one only takes 4 and 5 bolth 110BCD chainrings. IIRC, the Magene one had even more compatibility?

Yes they had 104 bcd one, that’s the one Jon has and it has been discontinued. Only cadeyx makes that bcd now.

At one point the 318Bike Store was selling the Magene PM spider on clearance paired with the ZRace RX cranksets for around $200-225 USD (during coupon sales). It's nice because you can use multiple bolt pattern chainrings on the spider and pair it with whatever 3 bolt crankset. With the Magene P505/515 crankset, you're pretty much stuck with that.
I did ordered the Xcadey Ventus crankset + PM. When I get it I'll confirm if I can use the Xcadey Ventus PM on other 3 bolt cranksets and see if the Ventus crank will accept other 3 bolt PMs. It has a proprietary 5 bolt setup, but appears to use the same pattern as 3 bolt cranks.

Hehehe, you are not wrong on that. Usually prefer to have some more reviews of products as well.

Cheers for the reply. I wasn’t aware that there was a connection between those two brands. They obviously look very similar, but I didn’t know much more about it.
I have the Magene P505 spider on another bike. Once I have this one, I can compare them and check the chainring and crank compatibility.
It’ll probably take me a while to finish the build, so I won’t be able to test the power meter’s accuracy against my smart trainer or anything just yet.

I have it on good authority that GP Lama is testing this at the moment. (Ie his Instagram ;D )
Will be interesting to see if this is competitive. Wonder what the minimum chain ring size would be, cheap option for gravel bike.

Pretty sure ArcRayo is an XCadey connection, not magene

Yeah I'd be very surprised if there's anything to do with Magene - totally different case, charger, spider.

I received the crank set + powermeter today. Can not say much about it at the moment but everything looks fine so far. I will be able to test it, when i finish my build (probably in 2 months +)

220CHF?! So 240€ - that's crazy cheap, even the current 11.11 deal does not come close. How did you manage that?

I think I got lucky — it seemed like a promo because the item was newly listed in the store. After I made the purchase, only the other crank length options were still available at the discounted price. So what I mean is that there was only one item per setup (crank length option + power meter) available at the discounted price. I still haven't tested it tho. Ordering all the other parts now with the 11/11 sale for my new bike build.
Are you getting sorted for your new build as well?

I see, good on you!
Yes sir, although I really only need another wheelset and crankset.
I'll decide last minute if I should get another Magene P515, because even though it has proprietary mounts, at some point I will have all crank lengths anyhow haha. But the ArcRayo/Zrace combo looks really sweet as well.

Yeah, sweet. I was planning first to get the Magene TEO 515. I have already a Magene powermeter on another bike. But got the good deal in the end.
I'm looking for a wheelset as well. What are you going for?

I am curious for the review!
Does someone know if it provides power balance data?

The app does have power balance, and other stuff there to setup the power meter

Are least the spider has the 3bolt direct mount and not his own patent as Magene pes do. With Magene you are basically forced to use his own crank

Exciting! I have the carbon version in my cart for $280USD, purchase pending your review :D

Hey,
good to see people are interested in this power meter + crankset as well. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for my frame and the remaining parts to build my new bike, so I’ll only be able to review/test the power meter at the end of December or the beginning of January. Sorry about that.
I just checked on Google real quick — there’s some more/new information about the ArcRayo, but still no real reviews. Besides that, there are a few other new cheap power meter brands popping up right now like Thinkrider, Leoseek, Geoid, etc. Those might be good alternatives as well.

Any results about this PM? Any comments you have is welcome!!
TIA

Here are some negatives I've experienced:
- 2s+ delay, which is very annoying at the start of an interval when you don't yet have a feel for the power
- 1Hz update rate (similar to a Kickr Core, not per revolution like most other spindle-based PMs)
- Battery seems to drain relatively quickly
All of my indoor dual recordings looked fine, but I'm sure GPLama will find some issues. App is also alright.
-
I noted the delay the ARS has. No residual torque issues but it was inconsistent between zero offsets by a few % (shifting during a ride). Having said that, it was one of the better spider meters I've tested in the last few months.... although the benchmark is pretty low given the critical issues the others have.

Hey @cls_elite can you confirm the interface standard of the cranks you received? I ordered the same day as you and mine arrived but I didn't check the interface.
Now I sent it to the bike shop and they told me the power meter has a different interface (SRAM 3 bolt). From your pictures of the PM I get that the cranks are easton interface.
(Aliexpress order is closed, not sure I'll be able to open a return/refund process)

Which one did you buy ? The non carbon version is 3 bolt whereas the carbon one is Easton. If the seller has mixed it up, then they need to send you the correct one.

I got the carbon version...
I managed to open a dispute on the order, let's see how it goes...

Updates on accuracy? Reviews?

Updates on accuracy? Reviews?
From what I've tested, which hasn't been much, it's accurate when rolling steadily but has problems.
- The battery does not last as long as indicated; it drains a lot while in standby.
- It can’t read power spikes if they are very short, for example 1-second spikes. It only reads more sustained spikes.
- There is a small delay of 1 to 2 seconds in displaying data.
This is what I’ve been able to observe in the few rides I’ve done. I have it installed on my gravel bike with Riro carbon cranks.
