Title: Changing chainring only, shimano 105 5800
Post by: dedroo on November 10, 2025, 12:42:53 PM
Hi,

I am looking to replace my big chainring on my shimano 105 5800 2x11.
I see a massive price difference between the 11s vs 12s.

My question is, can I use a 12s chainring to fit in my 11s crankset system?
I have a stripped bolt thread in my chainring and I want to change it.
Anything that would work is fine with me.

Thank you

If you use third-party chainrings, many are compatible. Original Shimano chainrings are not.
If you're European, there's this great deal on a complete 12-speed crankset:https://www.bike24.it/prodotti/971423?sku=3271455&srsltid=AfmBOooxwUmTh3wohagiTkHj7Dkle_1vUShkYFEVcDyFLuDEw3mNAxD6Ky8
