Title: Leoseek power meter spider - USB-C charging
Post by: raisinberry777 on November 12, 2025, 06:09:37 AM
Another new cheap power meter, available in 3-bolt, 8-bolt and Easton variants. Supports USB-C charging.

PM only is here:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mszqeJx

Paired with the ZRace Unchained Pro crankset here for a cheap combo:

https://a.aliexpress.com/_m06Brkt

Key issues so far is that there's no independent testing published on it, and the app is a mini-app through WeChat.

Looks like China opened the pandora box of spider power meters... Geoid, Leossek, ArcRayo, (I'm sure there were at least other two new releases I can't remember the names)

I guess building this ain't rocket science anymore, I believe more will come from China.

The question remains: how do they compare in terms of quality, precision, and relialibity? Only time will tell...

600 grams exactly for 50-34 complete crankset? I'm seriously considering it even though I don't have a build planned for the near future...

Nexga is the only other currently available USB C PM I'm aware of https://cyclegears.net/products/nexga-s1-powermeter but at least 4 were on display at the shanghai bike show iirc. I think I'll be patient but definitely watching an eye on this.

I want to buy one of these 4-bolt, 110bcd power meters, but I want to use it on my mountain bike with a 36-tooth chainring. Do you think that's possible? (I couldn't find a 104bcd version at such a low price.)

I was tempted by this but decided to go with xcadey.

The problem with this leoseek one is that I can't find any reviews or user feedback and not sure of its accuracy and the fact that you don't have an app to calibrate (only on head unit). What's the point of buying a power meter, regardless of how cheap it is if it's inaccurate or not calibrated.

- IMO not a problem, you always use some sort of headunit anyways no?
- Accuracy is not that important in a powermeter (comparsion vs measurement from other powermeters is not that useful). Consistency is much more important (comparsion against the same powermeter previously is very useful).

Some power meters require adjustment in addition to calibration which cannot be done via the computer.

Although relative power is important, I also want the absolute numbers to be thereabouts.

For me, this power meter is largely untested and the price difference to the xcadey was about US$40 which was justified for me

Chinese channel review:

Quote
There’s really no need to chase absolute accuracy in a power meter. Personally, I don’t think it’s that important. As long as your power meter and the Magene Lingen stay consistent with each other and can support your training zones, that’s what matters most.

The key point is whether the power curve provided by the power meter is stable—whether there’s any drifting or obviously unreliable data. So I uploaded the power data from both devices to ICU for everyone to take a look.

I’m actually quite satisfied with the results. Since the Magene test was pretty short—only about five minutes—the variations between the two devices were basically the same. The places where the lines don’t match usually happen when you suddenly put in a couple of hard pedal strokes. Spider-type power meters tend to show a spike in those moments. This is a common behavior of spider-based power meters, including the Xcadey as well. Their power curves tend to react more sharply.

You can see the normalized power: one is 200 W and the other is 191 W, so the difference is a bit larger there. But if you look at average power, the gap is much smaller. The spider meter shows 186 W, while the Magene Lingen shows 181 W. That difference is relatively small—you can think of it as traditional drivetrain loss.

Or you can simply fine-tune the spider meter’s calibration value—lower it by maybe 1%—so the two devices give you more similar numbers, and that’s good enough for training purposes.

So far, I haven’t found any issues. I’ll continue to record tests later to check its stability and battery life. If you’re interested in this power meter, feel free to keep following my videos.

Maybe I'm a bit harsher, but that looks pretty bad to me. Certainly not consistent with the Magene pedals in the efforts.

Are you sure? I have no idea about russian, but gemini translated it for me and as the geoid is suposed to be a reliable one, the leoseek seems to have calibration issues, especial y after sprints.

I suppose it could ve corrected via firware upgrade...

Xcadey has roughly the same problems. We haven't disassembled or compared the power meters ourselves, but the problems are similar.

Garmin Rally has the same problems while mine xcadeys don't. So leoseek is similar to Garmin, lol.

Looks like maybe some residual torque issues? You can see the gap between the two power meters narrows a lot after a few sprints.

There are deviations, of course, but remember I'm comparing it to the xx pro, so it's unclear which is more likely to be wrong. I did a few workouts and concluded that it consistently shows higher power than my machine, and consistency is a good thing. :) I ended up lowering the calibration by -11 and will continue to monitor it.

To be fair, the Geoid PM500 (a rebranded Magene P515) works perfectly and includes a crank in that price. Not wild to think that other brands might also be able to do it.

Thanks for testing - which Leoseek model is this and which firmware is it on?

If you get the chance, it'd be great if you could do some testing with sprints to see if there are any residual torque issues.

I decided to give this power meter a try, since it's currently the cheapest PM spider for 3-bolt mount, and I happened to have a compatible crankset laying around. One thing I find a little disappointing is that that there are only three color stickers in the box, despite the fact that there are more colors depicted in the description, so options to personalize the crank are limited (though it looks ok without any sticker, but luckily my bike is pink, so I used the pink-ish one). Other than that I had no problems installing it on my Zrace RX crankset, also worth noting is that it fits T47 BB, which was an issue with Magene P505 PM I bought with this crank (and had to buy P515 crankset for that bike, but that's another story). I was able to use my Garmin 1040 to calibrate it, so there's no need to install some wonky apps. I did one test ride, everything seemed fine, but one issue I noticed was the lag, when I stopped pedaling both cadence and power readings were dropping gradually for about 2 seconds before reaching 0. Could be because of low temperature (it was below freezing), but still never happened on my other bike which has Inpeak PM, nor with Magene P515 I had before (though I never used that one in winter). As to precision, I can't directly compare it against any other PM, so we have to wait for GPLama test (I'm also very curious how it actually performs). So far I give this 4/5 rating from my experience, it's super cheap and it seems to work, I wasn't expecting anything more!

Sram wide or non wide chain line is based on cranks not spider and when using 1x, you have 2 options to mount the chainring on spider, inside or out.

It depends a bit on the interface you have on the crank arms, just looking at the reviews on aliexpress it doesn't seem very reliable, I would recommend you go for more well-known brands like magene or favelo depending on your budget

Strange that they are not available in France, both the PP5 https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005011653810775.html (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c37wBv6Z) and the TEO are available in Italy https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005012540966801.html (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3Tbvp2t), do they seem unavailable to you?

Would this be a good option for force cranks with 8 bolt interface? I have a selection of 110bcd chainrings.

Nice with more than 100% price hike, compared to old version though ::)
That price and there are certainly better ones available.

You need to shop around. This new version is a bit cheaper.

Looks like the app is now in the Android app store. I changed over to that version (it has a different app package to the random one I had before), and I've also updated to the latest firmware 0.2.6.

What better ones are available? Because from what I know there is not a single reliable Chinese PM except magenem xcadey is mediocore at best, rest is crap.
