It's certainly becoming a thing, you can google ""brand - sponsor team"" and in 20min you'll probably map many.
brands sponsoring individual athletes is also a thing, but less likely to end up on their website.
ltwoo is sponsoring some european teams, too. There are horror stories around the groups failing during races.
