Title: ZRace Unchained Crankset - What Tool?
Post by: AlexL on November 21, 2025, 05:36:14 AM
I just bought a ZRace unchained crankset and am wondering what tool I need to secure the chainring to the crank. It’s a 20t internal spline ~33mm diameter
Have asked ZRace on Ali but they have not been helpful

Attached photos show the geometry of the locking ring.

Cheers,

Alex

Probably an old Shimano BB tool used for their square taper BBs.

Something like a Park Tool BBT-22 or its many equivalents.

Pretty obscure standard these days, weird choice. Apparently also Race Face uses such dimensions for their cranksets.

Looks like a standard 20 tooth bb tool as mentioned above. Don't you check/confirm what the interface is before you buy ? After the spindle size, that the next thing you should check - don't want to end up with some obscure or proprietary interface.

I actually think most of the cheap chinese carbon cranks are using this same lockring style. I know that LEESE uses is, as does the ROCKBROS crank, Magene’s TEO, and even the super popular Elilee cranks. I’m guessing this is because they all come frome a common source or sources.

Its not even remotely unique. Its an Easton Cinch lockring and uses a tool named the same or the generic tool linked. Just about every crank out there from China uses the Easton interface.

Thanks all for your feedback - linked tool ordered!

This is the joys of buying from AliE.
