I started surfing this site around Thanksgiving, thanks for all of your help. I settled on the Meinier Snake for my wife. I stripped a Niner Air 9 that I wasn't using and sold the frame, most of the components ended up on this bike.
Cost of the order from Meinier was $569, including paint, headset, bars and shipping. I sold the Niner frame for $150, and bought a 165mm crank and Wheels mfg BB. The BB was the unexpected thing, as I was expecting to just order a dub off of Amazon for $40 or so, but it turns out sram doesn't make a T47 BB for MTB that I could see. So I ordered the one from Wheels because I didn't want to wait and I was well below what I expected to spend.
Only issues were the cables going through the headset being a tremendous pain in the ass and the odd exit point for the shift cable. Notna huge thing but I had to do a little loop before the derailleur.
GX group, level TL brakes, spesh XC wheelset w/DT350 hubs Fox dropper, Bomber Z2 fork
EDIT - also, I was very pleased with the communications from Meinier.

Nice looking bike. I did a Meinier Snake build a couple of months ago and it went OK except for that headset nightmare!

What did you end up doing for a headset. I just ordered hers from Meinier but it seems they need their bars too.

I've got something similar to this on my gravel bike so I can run a normal stem with a frame that has headset routing.

I asked Meinier to include a headset and with some swearing I got everything to fit.
