Since the M868 (and its predecessor, the M861) has become such a popular choice here, I wanted to start a dedicated thread for everyone to share their builds. (my frame is on its way )

I’m just starting my own project and I’m curious to see how you’ve set yours up—especially for those of you running a more aggressive Down-Country geometry.

I’m also very interested in long-term reliability:

How are the bearings holding up?

Any issues with the rear triangle or cable routing after a few months of riding?

Post by: easyriderZO6 on April 04, 2026, 02:01:33 AM: I found a youtube video uploaded recently with a a sweeeeet xtr kashima build- discussed by the technician who build it, you can have that video translated via youtube.
the technician is really exaggerating with the verdict on the bearings and the costs of the bearing replacement - its a single pivot, from what i read all over from users, the bearings are fine - just need extra greasing to be on the safe side.

i didnt really understand the shock hardware issue as well- it is standard and no one reported this issue.

overall a positive video - great looking build - made me decide i will add a volume spacer to my sidluxe

Post by: nallen on April 04, 2026, 08:25:05 AM: Still early season here, the trails are still getting rained out, but we had a warm stretch that let me do some sections under real power. No real problems, mostly working on fit issues which is just standard new bike stuff. There was a creak from the rear shock, but a quick search tells me that is common on all full suspension bikes, I just needed to torque the bolts down more.
