Title: Opinions on Cane Creek EE G4 brakes

Hi,

Just wondered whether anyone has had any recent experience with these brakes.

I’ve seen reviews from a few years back, but wondered whether the “2025 version” as often titled on AliExpress has been improved in any way.

I often find the reviews one extreme to the other.

Garbage.  Do not buy.  They look cool and are light.  Set up is finicky and braking power is reduced, too much flex. Waste of money.  A good set of Ultegra R8000 calipers are all you need for rim brake. 

Check our the reviews of the actual G4s on weightweenies.

I think anyone saying G4 have less stopping power have their brakes setup improperly or they have counterfeit bushings. I have textured braking surface as well but when I have the EE G4 setup correctly, they are the most powerful rim brake I've used, more powerful than my dura ace.

You have to replace the counterfeit bushings with authentic ones. I did that and got like 50% more performance lol these are powerful man, they're like disc brakes. I have to really be careful. Could easily go over the bars doing higher speeds.

I would love to be proven wrong.  They looked great on the bike but I ended up going back to Ultegras. Heavier but they just work and are easy to set up. Seriously, I experienced less than adequate braking power compared to my shimano equivalents.  If you read reviews, they all say the same thing.

Glad yours work good.  Everything I ride now is disc anyway.

I purchased a set of Legit EE G4 used. I haven't installed them yet, so can't speak to performance yet. However, the few people I know with them (about 4-5) all say they are the best rim brakes they've ever used.
