Title: Xiamen Carbon Speed D40CU-33, tire width
Post by: trailgazer on May 11, 2026, 08:21:29 AM
I have the above rim/wheelset together with a Carbonda 505SL frame. The tire clearance of the frameset is max 42 mm.

I'm looking for new gravel tires. Currently I'm running Specialized G-ONE RS Pro in 35 mm. With an upcoming gravel event combined with a bikepacking trip around the South of Norway, I'm looking for more comfort by going for a fatter version preferably the R Pro. 40mm wide would be no problem for the frame I guess. But would a 45mmm fit? How wide actually is it on that rim?

Do you have the above XMCarbonSpeed D30CU wheelset and one of the tires mentioned above (being RS/R or RX), would you mind by measuring the actual width of the tire on that rim? You would really help me decide. Thank you!

On my XMCS wheelset with 26mm IW, my Hutchinson Caracals in 700x40 are 44mm at their widest and 39.5mm in height.
