Title: Looking for a frame
Post by: james7 on November 01, 2026, 11:26:25 AM
Hello,

I'm looking for a gravel/allroad frame.

Parts I have and can use:
- Shimano 11 speed GRX 600 shifters, RX 400 hydraulic brakes, GRX 812 derailleur, M8000 11-42 cassette
- Shimano R7100 crankset in 165mm, Deckas 40t ring (running 1x), shimano BSA bottom bracket
- Elitewheels Gravel SLR 38mm (with quickrelease adapters, but it came with thruaxle), Continental terra trail 40mm tires
- Ryet 3d saddle, 27.2mm Elitaone seatpost
- Shimano Discover 90mm stem, 400mm bars

Existing bike is a Decathlon Triban GRVL520 size S. Pretty good, except it uses quickrelease instead of thru axle. The geometry is very aggressive for gravel (542 stack, 390 reach). About 80-90% of my riding is about 40-60km and 800m elevation rides, on road. I don't ride much on gravel, and when I do it's not particularly extreme. The 40mm terra trail tires are enough.

Bike fit position is 720mm saddle height, 50mm setback, 50mm bar drop, ~650mm saddle to hood reach, 400mm bar width

I would like to have:
- thru-axles
- internal storage
-the options for a colorful paint job (no black bike)
- bosses for bags (at least top tube)

The big question I have is that almost all of the Chinese carbon frames I see are full internal routing with the cables through the headset; Will this work for mechanical shifting?

Thanks!
