Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Hi all, just building up my frame and was wondering what the best way would be to fit a DI2 battery in the seattube?
I saw many solutions like wedges or rubbel plug type thingies to even just bubblewrapping the battery and stuffing it in the tube.
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I used a small piece of foam to fill the gaps and it's worked great.

Re: Recommendations for a carbon saddle?
I ordered one of these based on the previous recommendations. Waiting for it to arrive any day now. I’m closer to 89 Kg or so, so we’ll see how long it lasts! Would be a huge weight savings compared to my Specialized Power Comp.

Update on my EC90 saddle, it cracked  :-[

Rails seem to be ok but as picture, the left side next to the cut out cracked. It must have splintered a few rides ago as I started to notice by bibs were catching on something but it wasn't obvious. Then on my last ride this weekend the sharp pieces of carbon tore a bunch of holes in one of my nicest bibs and it became clear...

I've contacted the seller a couple of days ago (EC90 Official Store) and so far they have have read the messages but not responded. I was very close to buying another of these saddles for my gravel bike as I have been super happy with it up until the crack on the while riding it on the road bike. Not sure if what I got was a dud or I should expect this to happen again. I'm 90Kg and the saddle says it can support max 100Kg.

Re: Recommendations for a carbon saddle?
Not sure as the picture is a bit blurred, but it looks like an impact.
I hit one like this one day, putting the bike against a pole to park it, and the saddle hit the pole too hard, and cracked, not that much, but enough to catch my bib too.

At that price, I see them as another disposable part of the bike, and have always one home as a backup.

Here is another photo. I hadn't thought about this being an impact related issue and I can't think of a time the saddle hit something but may it was more subtle and didn't take much.

Finally after getting Aliexpress to send the seller a "reminder" about the issues they responded and offered a replacement. Will see how the next one works out. Hopefully all goes well and I'll replace the saddle on my other bike with one of these as well!

Re: Recommendations for a carbon saddle?
I doubt that they will remedy it. I suspect they fall into the "you get what you pay for" vendors or AliX.  I almost feel like the 100kg claim is more of a 100% chance of failure rating.

My crack hasn't gotten any worse, but then it's been on the indoor trainer since December.  Also, I've dropped 8kg, which probably helps.

I will probably patch mine with a little carbon fiber and call it a day.

Let us know if they get back to you, and if you buy a replacement or get a different saddle!

Hey! Looks like you didn't see my last post, they are sending a replacement. Interested to see how this one works out. Tempted to fix the current one with some gorilla tape if I can get away with it  ;D and use it on the gravel bike

Re: Velo Build R-099 Build
I've got the HB010 and I'd agree they're not that stiff. The bar tops/hoods are ok but certainly in the drops they're a bit flexy. For me personally they're fine and I would very happily buy them again (actually that lack of super stiffness means they soak up lots of road vibration). However, if you're the sort of person who's doing hard sprints out of the saddle with the drops, you might be concerned about this lack of stiffness.

Thanks for the comments Ogi22 and J-S-Q. I have the original HB010 with the wedge fastening system not the two bolt one, and have a HB011 I will be switching to so wanted to hear some feedback in advance. Will report back!

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Anyone use their 177 for cyclocross or adventure riding?

Doesn't sound like it? Wonder how much further beyond 32c you could push it with this frame and some tires with tread.

Re: Workswell Frames My friend and I bought matching WCB-R-081 Workswell frames back in 2018 (what became the WCB-R-226) and were very happy with them. Mine developed what was possibly a hairline crack in the head tube and Workswell replaced the frame for me under their 2 yr warranty program. Communication was a bit slot at times but it comes with the territory. I would recommend them to someone looking into buying one of their frames.

I've since replaced my Workswell road bike with the Velobuild 168 and have been very happy with it so far.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Wow! That's the best executed open mould build I've ever seen

If you're in Singapore/Malaysia and aren't camera shy, would you consider appearing on an Oompa Loompa Cycling video? The world needs to see your build up close and personal!

These videos are great! Just started watching them  ;D

Re: Pulled the trigger on the Elite Wheel DRIVE wheelset
After much humming and hawing, I decided to pulled the trigger on their 2022 Elite DRIVE Wheelset.

You can find it on their AliExpress storefront, but oddly it is not yet advertised on their official B2C website.
Even on the AliExpress site, its a bit buried: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003763694064.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.0.0.267ed0edTPNtBU
The glossy marble-like design won't be for everyone, but I dig it.

I got 5 sets, which got me some discount but not a ton - since the shipment is small, I can't have them sent by freight.  They are being sent by EMS, in which case I do have a fighting chance at of at least being spared taxes and duties
And, on the plus side, I will receive them faster - probably just before the Spring riding season begins (here in Toronto, good riding doesn't really start until at least all the salt and gravel from winter is swept away...)

Once I get my hands on them, I'll let you all know how they fare!

The marble design looks good. Bonus T?!  ;D
