Re: Chinese Titanium Frames...
Wow that looks quite dangerous! I'm curious to see what will happen.
I don't think it is dangerous leading to a catastrophic failure.  It appears to be a stress crack right at the edge of the weld in the heat effected zone of the seat post tube.   These types of cracks next to a weld are often due to improper purging of the area during welding where oxygen reacts with the metal causing it to become brittle.  Sometimes this type of crack can be due to too much hydrogen in the area as well.

Re: True CX frame (not gravel) Depends on lots of things.

First how old school cx guy are you? Cx bikes from 8 to 10 years ago had way higher bb than the last few years before everything became a gravel bike.

I would personally go with a lightcarbon LCX027-D it is an older style clearance for not much over 38 but old school 65 mm bb drop. In other words a proper cx bike. Big front triangle without much slope good for shouldering.

Cx bikes are what I use to buy for my daily bike for the last 20 years or so.

What I would do is look for used bike and upgrade components. Plenty of great used cx bikes from the beginning of the disc era. A l twoo hydro group and a great set of wheels would wake up an old cx bike born with cable brakes and crap wheels.

Re: Painting over UD matte finish I am not a painter. But if the frame already has a decent surface finish (which the clearcoat should be), I'd save me the hassle and just rough it up with fine sand paper. If you can get rougher scouring pad, that might work, too, and is way easier to handle wet.

If you want the paint job to last a while, finish with a 2-component top coat.

You could look for ETOE on yt to get some ideas. He shows how to do a lot of cool paint jobs, awesome effects and stuff, on the cheap (rattle can jobs). The first few minutes might be a bit cringe (with his very German brand of English, all the overacted enthusiasm and sometimes suuuper cheesy dance tunes), but you get over it and the videos are rather informative.

Re: Airwolf YFR068 - 2023 Gravel Frame
I'm also looking into this frame (looking for gravel bike that's a bit towards aero/road bike, with clearance for at last 40mm tyres and a reach of ~360-370mm). Can anyone post a picture or two where it's possible to see the shape of the downtube? It's super hard to make the shape out on the all the pictures I have found.

It is hard to get a good photo of downtube shape.
I will try and explain the shape in words. It’s relatively flat on 3 sides (top where bottles mount and sides) and underneath is rounded. The corner transitions are rounded. So kind of like a square with rounded corners on three sides and then a round face underneath.

Re: Carbonda FM909
To be fair to Ludo, the most recent pic of yours, unless I missed one, is 7 pages back from November last year and in that pic at least, it looks a different blue.

As i explained also: this colour is just very dark blue unless you sparkle in the sun. If you expect that sparkling sun color always ,you will be very sad.
It IS the same blue. If you don't want to believe it... then don't.

Re: Goldix/Evosid Dimpled Crankset
Could be much worse, i.e. Xpedo

Seriously, I sometimes choose AliEx components on whichever has the better name even if they're exactly the same. For example Goldix, Zeroing and Racework all sell the same 1x chainring. I opted to go for the Racework chainring just because the name wasn't weird sounding!

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
I bought these photochromatic glasses on a whim. I thought they would be junk, but they're surprisingly clear and the photochromatic feature works decently for sub $5 USD. I now use them exclusively when I know I'll be riding into the night. Though I still use tradition tinted glasses for daytime.

If that kinda dorky 70s-but-modern style is your thing and the ~135 mm width works for you, you might also like the x62's sister models (x64 and x63) with identical temples but different front frames. Most of them can by found with both Kapvoe and SCVCN branding; looking to be the same thing. Some also come in funky frame colours (multicolour, gradients, sticker-bomb like prints) and transparent variants.

Now, if that doesn't look like fine (modern) vintage porn?!

(Seriously, I think the light grey/brown transparent frame looks super hot. The rarer "sticker-bomb" prints are fun, too (I just don't have the face to go with them ... or the personality, not sure).)

Bikepacking racks Hi,

I see some rear racks in Ali made of steel/aluminum, quite heavy (over 1kg). Do you know of any more minimalistic rack system in that platform? Specifically something similar to lightweight designs such as the tailfin.

Re: Replica Factor Ostro VAM
Nice looking Ostro replica there. Anyway, can you show what type of compression plug given by seller?
Because I've experienced it before, D-shaped steer tube is not working well with normal round compression plug. It tends to loose during ride and for me it's so dangerous.
Compression plug doesn't hold any stress while riding. Your handlebar is clamped to the steerer and keeps everything together. Compression plug and top cap function only to set correct tightness for headset.
