Re: Replica Factor Ostro VAM
Has anyone tried the new 2025 version of the ostro vam? So far the only frames I have seen here are the previous generation ostro vam. Here is a link for reference. Not sure how much I'd trust this one. The new gen also has size 45 again which this "v2 ostro" seller doesn't offer. I'd wait awhile longer for the v2 clones from known sellers to show up. FSA ACR or Deda DCR)?700*35C max tire clearance, UDH, T47 85.5mm bottom bracket, both top and down 52mm headtube two types seat clamps for either 7*7 or 7*9 saddle rails Size 54cm weight would be around 895+/-30g after painted and with front and rear derailleur hanger mounted. So, I finally got my frame in today. Here are some pictures of me unpacking it and checking it out with an endoscope camera. These are not the best quality pictures, but you can see that everything inside the frame is really neat, with no sharp edges or anything else. I will be building the bike with my friend this Saturday, and I will post some more pictures with the weights of the stuff and so on. My frame is size 58. Hi Everyone, Dang. This is the exact type of X68 build I personally love to see in here as an SL8 owner. And would order. Top notch components, wheels, and both the frame and cockpit is my size too. Curious where on AliExpress you got the cockpit from. So I've done 6 crit races this year thus far myself. Getting back into this area of cycling has been exhilarating, but far far away from being a Cat 1 though. Your opinion on the overall bike will be super valuable. I'm actually on the verge of selling off both my Propel and SL8. Turns out my Tavelo Arow has been perfect for crits. But if the X68 turns out to be solid, even 8/10th of a genuine SL8, then it's something I'll stronger consider for a backup bike. Been chatting with TanTan about getting a frame anyway. The bars at the Aliexpress link posted by @greengoblinbean are still available to me. I'm in the UK though so it does look like Aliexpress sellers are removing the links to products for US based customers. will you be painting the frameset yourself? It's either gonna be painted or coated with cerakote... I've already had a friend who's a painter lined up with everything... Sitar_Ned is the forum's administrator. You can reach out to them via PM or email. Honestly, not much capacity at all. It's just me and I am in no way a web developer or webmaster. Just a simpleton Arkansas mountain biker that somehow figured out how to get this forum up 10 years ago. I know the broken pages are annoying... and I am sorry about that... I do try to fix them immediately when they pop up so please do let me know.. I really appreciate it. I do have plans to upgrade to the latest SMF version to fix little issues like that but I'm sorry to disappoint anyone but there are no plans to "modernize" the forum in any way. No desire to have some modern mobile-friendly, super slick, dark mode interface. Chinertown will remain old-school looking with zero ads and zero optimizations for Google search. My main goal going forward is to keep AI out of the forum as much as possible. That's just my jam but I do understand if it isn't for everyone. Zen Carbon Wheels Xiamen
Hi everyone, Wanted to share a bit about a new wheelset I’m having custom built through a lesser-known OEM in Xiamen called Zen Carbon. Thought it might be of interest to anyone exploring beyond the usual big players like XM Carbon Speed or Elite. Background I’ve been working with a few OEMs this year. Back in April, I ordered a 60/65mm carbon spoke set from DFS Carbon, which came in at 1230g and has performed really well so far. I’ve also got a set of 50/60mm carbon spoke wheels on order from XM Carbon Speed — very popular on here and on Weight Weenies. The rims are still in manufacture, but I’ve been told they should be completed this week. This new set is coming from Zen Carbon, which doesn’t really have any online presence. It’s a small company based in Xiamen, run by Zara and her father. Why Zen Carbon? I’ve known Zara for a few years — she was my contact back when I was buying Winspace products (frames, parts, etc.) around the time when Jo Whittingham (of Panda Podium / China Cycling YouTube) was still there. I’ve had access to dealer pricing from Winspace, and Zara was always super helpful. She moved on to Zen Carbon a couple of years ago, and while I hadn’t ordered anything from her since then, I thought I’d give them a try for this build. Wheelset Specs • Rim depth: 40mm front / 45mm rear • Rim width: 31mm external / 25mm internal • Rim weights: • Spokes: Carbon, 2.1g per spoke • Hub: Zen SL 20H front & rear – 226g total Pricing • Total: $866 USD / ~£670 GBP to the UK Would love to hear if anyone else has experience with Zen Carbon or the H-Works hubs — or thoughts on using mixed-weight rims like. 25mm rims sizes pictures obviously they offer more rim types June 11, 2025, 10:39:44 AM |

Long time lurker here. Figured I’d update this thread with my experience. Ordered an extra small version, plain matte black finish, of this frame April 8th. Shipped out to me and I received early June, according to expected lead times. Packaging was just fine and frame looks good. Clean carbon inside and out. Little bit of overspray on the bb but nothing that can’t be easily cleaned up. Plenty of tire clearance to help try and squeeze in a little comfort in this deep tubed aero frame. Going to be building up with combo of new rival shifters, 1X Leese carbon crank, and Zen carbon 50/60 wheels. Should come in right around 7 kgs. Hope to finish the build within the next month as I wait for more parts to arrive. Will update then. June 17, 2025, 11:32:25 PM |
